Program decription This 3-day program, has been developed for Intensive Care specialists, ICU registrars / trainees & other ICU practitioners interested in ultrasound techniques in their specialty. This intensive program provides participants with tuition in basic physical principles, understanding of sonographic planes, terminology, measurements and probe manipulation skills, along with techniques involved in ultrasound needle guidance. Emphasis on the practical aspects of these topics with comprehensive "hands-on" tuition, led by expert sonographers. Low student/tutor ratios for tuition in a personalised fashion. Specific topics include ∞ Physical principles & knobology ∞ Probe manipulation techniques ∞ Sonographic appearances & terminology ∞ Needle guidance techniques ∞ Vascular scanning techniques ∞ RUSH Techniques, including; Basic cardiac scanning techniques, eFAST Techniques, IVC scanning, Scanning for Pneumothorax ∞ General abdominal techniques including: Gall bladder, Kidneys, Urinary bladder Course Objectives ∞ To provide an overview of the physical principles and artifacts associated with B-Mode. colour & spectral doppler ∞ To provide an understanding of basic system optimisation ∞ To review relational anatomy ∞ To provide the scanning skills required to maximise technical ability ∞ To provide an understanding of protocols required in all examinations discussed Accredited CCPU units included in course ∞ Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) ∞ Basic Echocardiography in Life Support ∞ Biliary ∞ Extended Focussed Abdominal Scan for Trauma (E-FAST) ∞ Lung ∞ Physics ∞ Pleural Effusion ∞ Vascular Access Approved by ACRRM and RACGP for the Rural Procedural Grants Program Procedural GPs can receive $2000 per day, for up to 10 days of training per financial year, and GPs providing hospital based emergency services can receive up to three days of eligible training per financial year. CPD accredited CPD 17 hours (Lecture 6 hrs, Practical 11 hrs); ACEM accredited; ACRRM - E1408AIUL; 5 points PDP core; 30 PRPD points; 30 points MOPS Anaesthetics; 30 points MOPS Radiology ; 30 points MOPS Emergency Medicine Electronic logbook services with expert feedback To help maintain & improve your skills we offer an online ultrasound mentoring service so that our experienced staff can guide your hand by giving critical feedback on your uploaded images.
