This Week: 1. finals : Wireless LAN, Network Programming, Computer Network 2. prepare the demo of Wall 3. Testting of snort 4. wireless LAN project

This Week are full of finals, sleep became luxury. After the final and two project, all the courses in this semester will be completed. In this two weeksbefore the chinese new year, I will finalize thing in this semester like Snort testting and GUI. Then try to find out what to do with wall in next semester.

This week is the final one before chinese new year. About computer network project, I feel so urgent because the cinese new year is so late in this year. Everything doing in this semester need to be converged in this week.

This week is the first week after the chinese new year. We had lots of fun in the V-Mix last week , thanks to teacher let us have such a great dinner. In this week I’ll find the open source solution about my small function and try to understand my system research paper.

aper present. In this 2 weeks I’ll read the paper and survey some topic of mobile IP, especially the situation in industry now.

It is the first week in this semester. I will take 2 course in this semester(Embedded OS and Computer Network Experiment) , and may audit 1 or 2 course like Computer Architechture. We begin our system research paper presentation in the group meeting of this week. It is a good chance to practice present skill.

in the last week. At group meeting in this week, I heard three people present their paper. It’s my turn to present in next week. I’ll try to attend the 「 logic reasoning」 which teacher emphasize the most .

Finally I finished the presentation of the paper. I believe the presentation ability is a key skill I need to upgrade during this two years. This week openhouse hold several symposium about jobs I may take in the future. So I will hear some of them like III, Realtek .. Etc.

Wall meeting on this week, teacher encourage us to rebuild Wall on Linux. As my suggestion, Linux is much more fun and have more various open source solutions than netbsd. So I’m glad to hear this change. And we can treat it a chance to get familiar with all Wall system architecture (and also linux new kernel). After this change, our small function is also much easier.

board After we decide to switch our Wall platform to Linux, thing become

more and more interested. Mobile IP have various and stable packages on Linux. I will choose a package named dynamic-DUT or another implemented by standford. As I need to find a board to do hands on of Embedded OS. I asked Kuo-Kuan and got a board based on NIOS, I will try to setup it development environment.

I still can’t solve problem of NIOS development environment setup, If I can’t overcome it this week, I may give it up and try another board. But I still feel a little pity that no one can develop something on it in lab. Also, my hw1 deadline of EOS is coming soon, I need decide the board I will develop on it in this week at least. Linux porting work start in this week, I’ll decide my work before Wed.

L) The hw1 of EOS is bootloader, I can finish my handson in last sum

mer vacation finally. I got the toolchain ready on Altera Nios board. But I find it is hard to get the last version of uClinux compiled on it. About Wall, I need to survey the packages solution in Linux. In this week, I have a training at Paralink in Taipei with Elia-Chen and Zhi-Xiang, Zhi-Xiang will stay in my home for 2 days.

I got much more familiar to this NIOS board recently, I wish I can use this board to develop my EOS project in the semester, if I have more time , I will try to port a newer version of uClinux on it and setup Wall on it. Also , I need to setup the development environment of Wall in this week.

I spent almost all time to get familiar to altera’s EXCALIBUR last week, and finally I got a uClinux kernel 2.4.17 can run on it. In this week, I need to get a bootloader which can boot a simple “hello world” and my linux kernel. Also, the work on wall building the rootfs in buildroot can also use on my final project in EOS.

Last week I spend all my works on bootloader. This week I need to catch my other class’s progress like CNE. About Wall, We will try to build a useful image in this week. During recent weeks, I can feel the busy temple always happen from the mid to the end of a semester. This semester I have many handson works, hope I can learn lots experience and principle from it.

I can’t let Perl compiled with uClibc, I think I need to replace the Perl within it with the one I installed on buildroot. Time become less and less,I need to gear myself up to gain more efficiency.

Last week I finally got mobile IP system work, it is related to my EOS project and computer network experiment. I will write the first report of CNE (mobile IP) in this week and start the second expirement trace device driver. About porting progress of Wall, after several trial, I can’t get perl compiled on snapgear. I try it for several day, and I want to back the development platform to buildroot. Because without perl, many of service can’t work. I dicuss with others, they agree to roll back to buildroot. I’m sorry can’t let perl work, it is too many problem on snapgear.

This week we are all trying the experiments of CNE, it cost lots of time. But we can get familiar to many popular test tools on networking field. LIZX and I will complete mobile IP, CISCO, smartbit layer2 and smartbit layer3 , 4 experiments this week and write done 2 reports by myself this week. In the future, we’ll do VPN and Wireless.

After several days we “explode our livers”, we failed the contest of MOE. I think some of the points are as follows: The first time 7 in 1 WALL is a very creative one, but 10 in 1 WALL in s

our FULL software solution.

This final of this semester comes, we need to gear up to get maximum throughput to pass this month. About porting works on WALL, we decide to try another buildroot-like project solution called “leaf”. Wish we can get all things works on it this time. Today we heard about teacher will go to government to take a full time job, I think it is a good chance to see many different thing may not seem in acdemia.
