Welcome to umApps

umApps allows access to a variety of specialized software. Students with an internet connection and University UUID and password can access this service from both a PC and Mac. Information about saving documents while using umApps is available at the end of these instructions. In any browser, go to umApps website and login with your UUID and password. You will be prompted to install the Citrix Receiver the first time you log into the system.

How to access applications umApps provides two options for accessing software, the HTML 5 Citrix Receiver and the Citrix Receiver.

Using the HTML 5 Receiver umApps provides support for HTML5, which means that no Citrix Receiver is required to be installed on your computer.

Note: Google Chrome (latest version) is the recommended browser for the HTML 5 Receiver.

To use the HTML 5 receiver follow these steps:

1. If you are visiting umApps for the first time, you will be prompted to install the Citrix Receiver. To use the HTML 5 receiver, select Use HTML 5 Version underneath the Detect Receiver button.

It’s recommended that you work with your files while they are on the U: drive for best performance. When you are finished working with your files, you can save your work to your device using the Save to My Device option.

To save work from umApps to your personal computer using the HTML5 Receiver, use the file -> save as option and select Save to My Device.

Opening and Saving Documents using the full Citrix Receiver When opening or saving documents, choose the Local Disk (C: drive) option to browse to your local computer. This is how it looks when you try to open or save a file using umApps.

All of the drives shown are on your local computer (PC or Mac). The drive labeled “Local Disk C:” represents the primary drive on your computer. This is the same for Mac users. Here you can navigate to your document on your local computer, and open or save a file.

Generally, you will navigate to Local Disk (C:) -> Users and select your username to find and save your files.

Note: File access performance will depend on the speed of your internet connection and the size of the file. It’s recommended that you copy the file to your U: drive if you experience performance issues.

Save to Desktop (PC)

When using the full Citrix Receiver, PC users can take advantage of opening or saving files directly to your desktop. To save a file to your local desktop, simply select Desktop and the file will save to your local desktop.

You can also use this to open files located on your desktop.

them during your next session. c. Files saved to your UUID (U: drive) storage are also available outside the

umApps environment by mapping this network drive. Instructions for mapping the network drive can be found on AskTOM.
