Many data quality improvements introduced to ensure accurate data
• Number of critical elements has increased• Validation customized to each equipment type• More in-depth cross-element validation
• Eg. Tare + Load Limit <=> Maximum Rail Load• Data in error is not allowed on file• Clear error messages with remedies• Frequent revalidation which identify data conflicts

To keep the file clean, “conflicts” have consequences
• Conflicts occur when any illogical data exists on file• Identifies “hidden” errors from legacy
• Conflict aging “consequences”• 30 days – Unit zero rated• 90 days – Unit restricted in interchange• 365 days – Unit subject to deletion from file
• Multiple email “ticklers” before each step

Railinc is looking at ways to minimize the effect of increased conflict
• Moratorium on conflict aging• Approved by AAR CSSC• “New” conflicts will not start aging until end 2009• Existing car hire edits for zero rating will continue to apply
• Working directly with customers to clean up newly identified customers• Part of communications program• Regular email reports and follow-up• Supplementing your own activities
