TRAINING PORTFOLIO CIFAL FLANDERS
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT CIFAL Flanders has developed a holistic Action Learning methodology based on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development framework in order to strategically implement the Sustainable Development Goals in organisations. In small interactive groups, the participants brainstorm with organisation specific circles on current best practices and challenges in the light of the 5 P’s and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
SMART & SUSTAINABLE CITIES CIFAL Flanders provides lectures and trainings to all stake-holders involved with communities in cities and municipali-ties. Participants are introduced to the framework of the New Urban Agenda agreed in Habitat III conference in Qui-to and the SDG 11 towards inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable cities using local best practices and challenges ahead.
CLIMATE CHANGE UNITAR’s Green Development and Climate Change Pro-gramme develops the capacities of individuals and training institutions in developing countries to advance green and climate resilient development in support of Agenda 2030 and the United Nations Framework Convention on Cli-mate Change (UNFCCC).
CIFAL Flanders and UNITAR are working on new training modules regarding COP21 and COP22, to offer a range of services, including executive training, capacity development for education and training institutions, support for national learning strategies, learning methodology development, and knowledge-sharing.

TRAINING PORTFOLIO CIFAL FLANDERS
BUSIINESS & HUMAN RIGHTS The Special Representative, John Ruggie, presented a fra-mework to the Human Rights Council in June 2008. The “Protect, Respect and Remedy” Framework rests on three pillars: the state duty to protect against human rights abu-ses by third parties, including business, through appropria-te policies, regulation, and adjudication; the corporate res-ponsibility to respect human rights, which means to act with due diligence to avoid infringing on the rights of others and to address adverse impacts that occur; and greater access by victims to effective remedy, both judicial and non-judicial.
CIFAL Flanders provides workshops and trainings on the Ruggie framework: How can businesses prevent human rights abuses in their supply chain? Can human rights abuses abroad by affiliated companies or subsidiaries im-pact the company back home? What are the responsibili-ties of companies with regards to human rights? How can companies include the respect for human rights in their CSR-strategies?
UN GLOBAL COMPACT Corporate sustainability starts with a company’s value sys-tem and a principled approach to doing business. This means operating in ways that, at a minimum, meet funda-mental responsibilities in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. Responsible businesses enact the same values and principles wherever they have a presence, and know that good practices in one area do not offset harm in another.
By incorporating the Ten Principles of the UN Global Com-pact principles into strategies, policies and procedures, and establishing a culture of integrity, companies are not only upholding their basic responsibilities to people and planet, but also setting the stage for long-term success.
