Fabric Needed:

1. Blocks/Border: 12 Fat Quarters (2 Navy, 2 Red, 2 Orange, 2 Aqua, 2 Lime, 2 Gray)2. Elephant Background Fabric: 1 yard3. Stop Border/ Elephants / Binding: 1 3/4 yards4. Outside Border: 1 yard5. Heat N Bond Lite: ½ yard

Cutting Instructions:

1. Fat Quarters Cut each fat quarter into 2 – 3 1/2” x 6 1/2” (B), 4 – 3 1/2” x 9 1/2” (C), 2 – 3 1/2” x 12 1/2” (D), 1 – 3 1/2” x 12 1/2” (Border) according to diagram.

2. Background Cut 4 – 6 1/2” strips. Cut strips into: 24 – 6 1/2” x 6 1/2” (A).3. First Border Cut 7 – 2” strips x width of fabric. 4. Outside Border Cut 7 – 4 1/2” strips x width of fabric.

Sewing Instructions (for 1 pillow):

1. Blocks Stitch 1 – B piece to top of A background piece. Stitch 1 – C piece to side of AB unit. Stitch 1 – C piece to top of ABC unit. Stitch 1- D piece to side of ABCC unit. Repeat to make 24 blocks.

2. Construction Lay out 24 blocks in 6 rows of 4 according to diagram. Stitch blocks together to make rows. Stitch rows together. 3. Appliqué Make template of 2 elephant pieces. Mark 5 elephants and 5 ears on paper side of Heat N Bond Lite. Press elephants to elephant fabric and ears to leftover fat quarter pieces. Cut out on lines. Press elephants to white squares. Stitch around elephants with tight zig-zag. Press ears to elephants. Stitch around ears with tight zig-zag.4.Border Stitch 6 - 3 1/2” x 12 1/2” pieces together to create side border. Repeat to make 2. Stitch border to right side. Stitch border to left side.5. Stop Border Stitch 7 - 2” strips together end to end. Cut into segments: 2 - 72 1/2”, 2 - 57 1/2”. Stitch 72 1/2” pieces to right and left sides. Stitch 57 1/2” pieces to top and bottom.6. Outside Border Stitch 7 - 4 1/2” strips together end to end. Cut into segments: 2 - 75 1/2”, 2 - 65 1/2”. Stitch 75 1/2” pieces to right and left sides. Stitch 65 1/2” pieces to top and bottom.7. Quilt and Bind.
