Poverty(“지구촌빈곤타파네트워크)

Economic Justice)(경실련: 경제정의실천시민연합)”
-Organized to introduce the importance of UN MDG to
Korean society and role of Korea, with a 12th world economic
size, to actively participate to achieve the goals.
-Put an effort to organize a portal or hub with various related
NGSs in Korea to build a global network for UN MDG (Oversea
Assistance Committee, Korean Save the Children, Korean World Vision,
UNICEF Korea, Good Navers, Korea JTS, Plan Korea, YMCA Korea,
YWCA Korea, Korea Women Federation, Green Future, etc.)

UN-MDG Forum of national
assembly of ROK
Organization joined by 110 congressmen to support
UN MDG projects in KOREA
White Band Campaign Korea
Worldwide NGO organization to reduce the poverty
population
Why KOREA & KU should take a leading
part in UN MDG projects from now and
beyond year of 2015!
1)Year 2011 is the celebrating 20th year for joining
UN(161th country to become UN member country)
2)Also, after only 20 yrs, ROK has become the first
nation & first in history to become the “donor” country
from “recipient” country.
3)But, still faces North Korea(“country” which co-entered
UN same year as ROK), country with still profound
problems of poverty, hunger, health problems, and many
others.

4) Much have attained for UN MDG during last 2/3 of
targeted time, but much more is left to attain during
remaining 5 years & beyond 2015.
5) KOREA has become the one of the world leading
countries in many aspects.
6) KU is first and only university in KOREA joined as one
of U21 HSG network universities worldwide which has
a great momentum and experience on UN.
7) KU slogan is “Proactive KU” from “Global KU –
Frontier Sprit”.
8) UN General Secretary-Ban, Ki Moon- has served 5-yr
term and reelected this year to serve another 5-yr term
and we need to give great support for him and the UN
for UN MDG project.
9) But, mostly…..
G l o b a l K U - F r o n t i e r S p i r i t
..because I think we have the potential, passion, and
enthusiasm for the UN MDGs to fight against poverty,
hunger, health problems & others and to preserve our
environment, promote education & partnership not only
for those living at present but also for people in next
generations.
