EU SW ENVIRONMENT FOR CUSTOMS THE NEED
• More than 60 EU legal acts are enforced by customs at the EU external borders (sanitary, phytosanitary, environmental, fisheries, cultural heritage, dual use goods etc.)
• Fully digital customs clearance processes require closer cooperation between customs and Partner Competent Authorities (PCA) to avoid multiple submissions of formalities by economic operators at the border for the purpose of the customs clearance.
• EU Single Window environment for Customs provides the framework for digital cooperation between customs and non-customs authorities at the border to support customs clearance (automation, system to system exchanges, harmonized approach for all MS).
