Duquesne’s Facts:Discover DuquesneAn Education for the Mind, the Heart and the Spirit

Duquesne is home to over 700 international students from more than 90 different countries representing all cultures and religions in an environment that is open to diversity.

The Office of International Programs offers support to all interested international students from the point of application to graduation and beyond. It is our hope that you will consider both campus and our office your home away from home.

Our Campus

First-time visitors are struck by the beauty of Duquesne’s campus, a self-contained, 50-acre green space on a hilltop we call “Our Bluff.” Here we have breathtaking views of Pittsburgh and its historic three rivers. Even better, our campus is easy to navigate and only minutes from the city’s cultural attractions and recreational activities. Our campus is an ideal location for living, learning and launching a career.

Within a five minute walk, you can be downtown listening to Pittsburgh’s world renowned symphony, visiting a museum, enjoying a show or watching one of Pittsburgh’s world famous sports teams. In ten minutes, you can be in one of Pittsburgh’s many friendly, safe neighborhoods. In an hour, you can be in the countryside, enjoying a hike, camping, cycling or visiting a new place.

Pittsburgh: “The Most Livable City in the USA” (Economist, 2011 and Forbes Magazine, 2010)

Duquesne is centrally located in Pittsburgh – a fantastic location in which to live, learn and grow. The city provides a superb laboratory for off-campus learning and community service, making the city “our largest classroom.” National Geographic placed Pittsburgh on its Best of the World 2012 list of must-see destinations, and the Rand McNally Places Rated Almanac and other publications have called Pittsburgh one of America’s best places to work. The campus’ proximity to both downtown as well as the international airport make it an excellent choice for international students.

Preparing Our Graduates

Duquesne is committed to educating students to live a life of purpose. All students are required to take courses in the core curriculum that emphasize intellectual and moral development through the study of the liberal arts. The core curriculum enables you to study a wide variety of subjects, building ethical and intellectual skills for success in whatever path you choose.

Duquesne’s Career Services provides our students with the resources and support they need for success as they prepare for graduation and beyond. The center provides career counseling, teaches job search skills, connects students with networking events and mentoring programs and helps them find internships and employment opportunities. You can start working with Career Services during your freshman year to develop the skills needed to become a competent and successful job seeker.

“Duquesne University has provided me with the means to develop myself as an individual. I have

grown tremendously in many aspects of life during my time at Duquesne.”

Samih Nassif, Colombia
