Information technologies are a vital part of any organization and the information systems major focuses on the effective use of these technologies in typical business, governmental and not-for-profit organizations. Students gain an in-depth understanding and appreciation for specific technologies and the challenges involved in the application of them in dynamic environments. The students begin their career with the technical and managerial skills needed in major businesses, governmental entities or information systems consulting firms.

What can I do with a major in Information Systems?Primary areas of employment for Information Systems majors are many and varied. Virtually every organization, businesses in all industries, government entities, or not-for-profit groups,

In other cases, companies will place the new team member in a business or process analyst role under the supervision of a veteran manager. Consulting firms, experts in providing information systems- related solutions to their clients, are another likely area of employment for an information systems graduate. Whatever the role and whatever the specific technology involved, the focus will be on the value-adding integration of information technology into the business or other organization.
