• 869 Loyola Chicago students studied abroad during the 2018-19 academic year (Fall 2018, January 2019, Spring 2019 and Summer 2019). This represents and increase of 9.6% from 2017-2018.
• Increase in Global Center participation rates:• The Vietnam Center participation rate saw a 22% increase from 2017-2018.• The John Felice Rome Center saw an increase of 37% from 2017-2018

• In Fall 2018 a new Global Health Professions nursing track kicked off at the John Felice Rome Center with an inaugural class of 23 students.
• The Fall 2018 study abroad fair saw a record number of attendees totaling over 1000 students in the 4 hour event.

I would recommend doing a host family if a student is seeking to completely immerse themselves in the culture/language of Spain. Also, to not be discouraged to use their language skills and force themselves out
of their comfort zone.

LUC Scholarships
• The John Felice Rome Center Awards: The Rome Center offers several awards specifically for Rome Center students, thanks to generous Rome Center alumni and benefactors.
• The Vietnam Center Awards: Need-based scholarships of up to $500 were offered to Loyola students participating in the program.
• B.O.L.D. Awards: The B.O.L.D Award is a scholarships that aims to support students who have been historically underrepresented in study abroad, including but not limited to first generation college students, students in STEM fields, students from diverse backgrounds, and students with disabilities.
• Ricci Scholarships: The Ricci Scholars Program awards selected students with grants to fund travel, research and exploration during a junior year of study divided between the John Felice Rome Center and The Beijing Center for Chinese Studies.
External Scholarships
• Host Campus/Program Awards: These awards are funded by Global Partner programs such as the Beijing Center, Academic Programs International (API), Institute for the International Education of Students (IES Abroad), School for International Training (SIT) and University Studies Abroad Consortium (USAC)
• National Scholarships: These awards include the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship for students receiving the Federal Pell Grant with funding up to $5,000, the Critical Language Scholarship Program, Freeman-Asia, and the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO).

Over the course of the 2018-2019 academic year, the Office of International Programs reached students through:
Study Abroad FairsAll programs (Global Centers, Faculty-Led, Exchanges & Providers are represented, allowing students to
learn more about all study abroad options during their academic career. Campus partners (Advising, Fellowships, Financial Aid etc..) are also represented to help students gain a full understanding of all the
study abroad components.
