We believe that these support services permit customers to get the maximum benefit from their investment in new control equipment whilst minimising the risks associated with installation, commissioning and long term use.

Training RoomsWe have well equipped training rooms allowing us to hold seminars, training courses, product and software updates. The training and refresher courses are designed to get the engineer up to speed with the latest engineering software.

Introductory courses are designed to familiarise customers at all levels with the latest developments in hardware, software and the benefits to be derived from them. These courses are run regionally around the UK.

Maintenance courses are designed for staff that require the ability to systematically and quickly fault find and rectify the problem or make simple modifications to problems.

SIMATIC S7-1200

- the modular micro controller

SIMATIC S7-1200 is characterised by its versatile and flexible design concept while offering high performance and extremely compact dimensions.

Main characteristics of the micro controllers: • New design concept: A host of modules and new signal boards

considerably increase the degree of scalability and flexibility.

• Powerful communication: The integrated PROFINET interface ensures low-cost communication during programming, HMI connections and CPU-CPU communication. An ethernet switch is available for networking several devices with one another.

Expansion by means of communication modules also allows serial communication.

• Integrated technology functions: High-performance functions forcounting, measuring, closed-loop control and for motion control open up new areas of application for the micro controller.

SINAMICS S110

SINAMICS S110 - The basic positioning drive for single-axis applications.

Many applications in mechanical engineering and plant construction require machine axes to be positioned quickly and precisely by the simplest possible method. It is often simply a case of moving a machine axis from position X to position Y reliably and with the required level performance. The SINAMICS S110 drive convertor is ideally suited to this type of application. It is specifically designed to position single axes accurately and effectively.

SINAMICS S110 is the perfect solution for many applications.

Typical examples are: • Handling equipment • Feed and withdrawal devices • Stacking units • Automatic assembly machines • Laboratory automation • Metal working • Machine used in the wood, glass and ceramics industries • Printing Machines • Plastic processing machines

The so-called basic positioner (EPos) is an integral component of the SINAMICS S110. It provides a simple method of solving positioning tasks. The SINAMICS S110 is designed for connection to both synchronous servo motors and asynchronous (induction) motors. It supports all of the most popular types of encoder.

A variety of field bus interfaces is provided for linking the unit to a higher-level control system. Alternatively, it can be controlled via a ± 10 V setpoint interface.

An outstanding feature of the SINAMICS S110 convertor is its integrated safety functions (Safety Integrated) which make it easy to provide highly effective protection for personnel and machinery.

The new SIRIUS Modular System: thoroughly innovated

Sizes S00 and S0 (up to 40 A) of the SIRIUS Modular System were completely redesigned in terms of the main and control circuit.

The innovated basic components such as circuit breakers and contactors offer numerous advantages for system optimization– both today and in the future. In addition, these innovations support maximum flexibility.

No matter whether direct-on-line, reversing or star-delta start; for self-assembly, as tested combination or as “all-in-one” solution with the new Compact Starter, whether for soft starting or frequent switching applications: the modular system offers the suitable solution for all requirements.

The aspect of increased system availability was also a focus for the range’s redevelopment. For example, the components of the SIRIUS Modular System will even allow for application monitoring with minimum costs in the future. This way, targeted application monitoring is substantially simplified – with current monitoring relays directly integrated in the load feeder, via the PLC or via the connection of load feeders to AS-Interface or IO-Link.

These innovations perfectly round off the bottom end of the present Modular System – sizes S2–S12, up to 250 kW at 400 V – and offer numerous new options for control panel assembly.

With parallel wiring, individual signals are transmitted to the PLC via numerous wires or switching commands are forwarded to the load feeder. In contrast, via AS-Interface or IO-Link, the various signals and switching commands are bundled and transmitted via standardized connections.

No matter whether direct-on-line, reversing, star-delta starter or “all-in-one” Compact Starter solutions: all components can be easily and rapidly connected to AS-Interface or IO-Link on the basis of the same bit pattern.

Two system-based standards: AS-Interface …

AS-Interface (AS-i) is a manufacturer-independent bus system, connecting spatially distributed actuators and sensors in the field to the control level, in a particularly easy manner. Every AS-i master is able to control up to 62 field-distributed slaves (e. g. load feeders) per AS-i network. For this purpose, the cost-favorable and rugged system utilizes an unshielded and highly flexible 2-wire cable which allows for the simultaneous transmission of data and power.

... and IO-Link

IO-Link is an intelligent, manufacturer-independent system for the uniform connection of sensors, switching devices and other actuators to the control level – by means of a point-to-point connection beneath the field bus level. The electrical connection is realized via three standard cables. Up to four grouped load feeders (direct-on-line, reversing or star-delta starters in any combination) can be comfortably connected to a port (channel) of the IO-Link master via a standardized IO-Link connection. The IO-Link connection thus concentrates the control and status signals over one cable while also supporting optional transmission of comprehensive diagnostics information from the load feeder.

Thanks to the innovations in the SIRIUS Modular System, complete

load feeders can now be connected to superior controls both via AS-

Interface and IO-Link. This not only ensures maximum flexibility, but

also further minimizes wiring costs in the control circuit and allows for

the transmission of comprehensive diagnostics and status messages

to the automation level. The feeders are actuated directly via the PLC;

SIRIUS thus forms part of Totally Integrated Automation.
