UNDP was born in 1966 as a combination of two programmes:

•The Expanded Programme of Technical Assistance (EPTA) provided technical assistance to Least Developed Countries (connecting countries to knowledge for development)

•The United Nations Special Fund conducted surveys and investment analyses to help identify development projects. (connecting countries to resources)

•Contributed to development worldwide.

Proceeds from the last 8 Matches Against Poverty have benefited projects in more than 27 developing countries, including recovery efforts after the 2010 Haiti earthquake and floods in Pakistan
