The awarding of a definitive operating license by The
Government of Rwanda to University of Kigali, heralds the
beginning of a revolution of quality in higher education in our
country, one that has a missing link in our knowledge and

A word from Promoters/ Founders of The University of Kigali.
Professor Nshuti Manasseh:
The opening of University of Kigali is a dream come true to pass on over 23 years of University teaching experience gained from high standards universities of: Strathmore University, Nairobi, Catholic University of East-Africa, Nairobi, Kenya (where he was also Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic) and Finally Aberdeen University, UK. He was a Minister of Commerce, Industry, Cooperatives and Tourism, a Minister of Finance and Finally, a Minister of Public Service and Labour of Republic of Rwanda. Professor Nshuti Manasseh is a Professor of Finance. He holds a PhD in Finance from Aberdeen University, UK, a Masters of Business Administration in Accounting, Aberdeen University, UK, and A Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) from Makerere University.
We have designed a first class University, that will offer highest quality programmes designed to empower our young

graduates with rare skills and thus capacity necessary for the job market. We blend our degree programmes with professional programmes such CPA (Certified Public Accountant
Course), , ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), CISA (,Certified Information Systems Auditor) and CISM (Certified Information Security Manager) which reinforces the degrees we offer to international standards. Mr. Afrika Philibert
Mr. Philibert Afrika is a Development Economist with a solid
experience in the field of financing for development, project
management and strategic policy formulation. He worked for
30 years with the African Development Bank where he
occupied high managerial functions including Secretary
General, Director of Policy, Director of Operations and
Director of Regional integration. He is a graduate of the
University of Ibadan Nigeria and holds a Master’s Degree in
Monetary Economics. He attended various professional
training programmes in renowned universities including the
Executive Management Development Program at Harvard
Business School. Throughout his career as a Development
Economist, he has traveled extensively within and outside
Africa and he has had a strong exposure with higher
institutions of learning within and outside the continent. He
brings to the University of Kigali a rich and vast experience. He
is strongly convinced that quality education can play a pivotal

role in economic and social development of nations. He has
passion and commitment to make the University of Kigali a
Center of Excellence. The University will provide students with
knowledge and skills that are responsive to the labor market
demand. Mr. Afrika says that “We as promoters/founder
members, we are committed to be judged on results”.
Dr. KAMIYA, HAKIZIMANA Jean Marie VIANNEY
Dr. Kamiya is a founder and principal of one of the leading design firms in Rwanda and the region. His experience varies from academic research to practice in the role of architect, urban designer and project manager. He practiced in several countries in Africa before pursuing his graduate studies at the University of Tennessee 1999-2001, PhD program at Ohio State University/The Knowlton School of Architecture from

2001-2006 while working with big firm like Turner Construction, Lupton Rausch Design and OZ Architecture. Since his return to Rwanda, Dr. Kamiya has strived to pass knowledge in both architectural design and urban planning by volunteering with KIST/Faculty of Architecture and Environmental Design as an independent reviewer and a mentor to many final year students who are getting ready for professional practice. He is the current president of the Rwandan Institute of Architects and the First Vice-President of East Africa Institute of Architects. He is joining the University of Kigali as a promoter/founder member, to give back the best he got from best Universities in the US and pass on his practical experience to students at University of Kigali, where the commitment is to offer unmatched highest quality programmes designed to prepare students for labour market with competitive skills.

Human Resources Management.
Applicants must have three principal passes in English and
Mathematics, commerce, economics or any other related
subjects in addition to meeting the minimum University
entry requirements with over 15 grade points in RNEC-56, or
a diploma from a recognized University or its equivalent.
The University will sponsor students pursuing the above
options to do ACCA/CPA, CIFA, ATC whichever the case may
be to ensure that the students graduates as a fully fledged
professional.
