BackgroundKuala Lumpur World Book Capital 2020 (KLWBC2020)
The programme named Kuala Lumpur World Book
Capital 2020 (KLWBC2020) will start on April 2020
until April 2021 with the slogan ‘KL Baca – caring
through reading’.Slogan
Cities designated as UNESCO World Book Capital will undertake to
promote books and reading and to organize activities over the year. As
the 20th city to bear the title, Kuala Lumpur has been named as World
Book Capital for the year 2020 by the Director-General of UNESCO,
Audrey Azoulay based on the recommendation of the World Book Capital
Advisory Committee. Official announcement ceremony of Kuala Lumpur
as World Book Capital 2020 on 12th November 2018.Announcement
The program focuses on four themes:
i) reading in all its forms;
ii) development of the book industry infrastructure;
iii) inclusiveness and digital accessibility; and
iv) empowerment of children through reading.Program Focus

Kuala Lumpur World Book Capital 2020 official ceremony social media
12 noon (Thursday, 23 April 2020). The video of official ceremony
social media broadcast is now available on KLWBC2020 official
YouTube channel. The initial launch pre-MCO was planned for Dataran

The year-long KLWBC 2020 is organised by the Kuala Lumpur CIty Hall
(DBKL), with Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP), National Library of
Malaysia (PNM), the National Book Council (MBKM) and Malaysian
Book Publishers Association (MABOPA) are the advisory committee.Advisory

Roles and Function of IIUM PressFor the IIUM Translation Book Project
In line with the KLWBC2020 programme, IIUM Press has taking this
opportunity to promote Malaysian publishing works generally and
specifically IIUM publications and grab a chance in supporting the
event by organizing the activity and programme collaboration.

With the initiative from the YBhg. Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’
Dzulkifli Razak (IIUM Rector), IIUM Press has come with the
project “IIUM Translation Book Project”. The ideas are to
translate 100 of book titles from various international publishers.
IIUM Press is also seeking opportunity for selling copyright of IIUM
Press books to the International publishers.
OBJECTIVESThe objectives of the IIUM Translation Book Project are as follows:
