Unforgettable Incident(novel)

Based on the novel ‘Catch Us If You Can’ by Catherine MacPhail that I have studied there’s an unforgettable incident that happen in the novel. The unforgettable incident that happen to Rory is when his family is fallen apart. His mother died and his father left him his grandparent.

Since that incident Rory learn to be more mature. He had to live with Granda who is very old and to be independent. He have suffer without the taste of his parent love, like the other kid around his age. However, he is so mature to fall in the despair of the situation he had to confront by the love given from his grandparent.

Besides that, Rory also learn about responsibility. As his Granda suffered from disease known as Pneumonia which turned him into forgetful person, Rory are responsible of taking care of him. Rory is the one who responsible of shopping, cooking and cleaning after Granda fall sick. He also willing to sacrifice his passion towards football just to fulfil his responsibility as a good grandson.

Despite that, all along Rory journey in this novel shows us that he possess true and pure love towards his Granda. His love towards Granda prevent him from felt any unpleased feeling. This can be seen when he lose his homework jotter due to Granda action misplaced the jotter and the rubbish. Granda put the rubbish inside Rory school bag and throw away the jotter. Instead of that, he still didn’t mad at Granda because he only has Granda and so do the other way round. The bond of love between them are so strong.

Furthermore, Rory grow up to be a very an intelligent boy for someone around his age. He able to plan such a detail ‘Great Escape’ which potrayed his charisma as a smart boy. As we all know it’s not an easy task to escape from a place like Castle Street and Rachnadar but student like him able to do that. He came up with the plan so that he can be together with his Granda and take the risk of being the fugitive. This is also show his resolution of determination.

This is the interesting incident that make us venture throughout the story as we learn a lot from the main character. It’s proved that the this novel content a lot of thing to be adapted in our daily life. Without any doubt it’s really a good reading material.
