INSTALLATIONWINDSHIELD1. Cleanthewindshieldandtherubbercupsofthemounting
bracket.Attachtherubbercupstothebracket.2. Pushthebracketfirmlyontothewindshield.3. Slidetheunitontothebracket.4. Gentlyadjustthebracketangleifneeded.
Do not use the detector to adjust the bracket angle.5. Plugthepowercordintothedetector.6. Plugthecigarettelighteradapterintothevehicle’scigarette
lighter.
YoucanremovethedetectorbypressingtheEjectbutton.Dashboard1. Placetheunitonthedashboardsothatithasaclear,level
viewoftheroad.

DETECTIONTheDFR1detectsemissionsfromradargunsandsoundsanaudioalertforthedriver.Thedetectordetermineswhichbandrangethesignalisfromanddisplaysthatfrequencytypeonthedisplay(X,K,Ka,orL).Thesignalstrength(1through5)alsodisplaysasapplicable.Ifthereisaspecificalertcode,thatisalsodisplayed.
False signals can come from other devices such as the automatic doors at a supermarket or even another car’s cruise control; these devices operate in the same frequency ranges as radar guns.
BANDSTheDFR1recognizes:• XBand:Thisbandwasthefirstfrequencybandassignedto
policeradar.Itoperatedonalowerfrequency(10.525GHz)withahigherpoweroutput.
• KBand:Thisbandisthemostcommonfrequencyusedinradardetectors(24.150).Itsrelativelysmallwavelengthgivesitaclockingdistanceofabout1/4milealthough,dependingontheenvironment,itcandetectupto2miles.
• KaBand:Overtheyears,theKabandincorporatedtheKa-Band,theKaWide-Band,andtheKaSuperWide-Band.Mostphotoradars(alsoknownasstoplightcameras)usethisband.
• Laser:Policeusethelaser’snarrowerlightpulsesforspeeddetectionasitismoreaccurateandfaster.Laserbeamsaremoredetectableaftertheyhavebouncedofftheirtargetandbegintodisperseonthereturntrip.
