UNIFORM POLICY
AIMS
٠ To create and symbolise unity within the College.
٠ To promote the College values of excellence and honour.
٠ To keep a consistent story within our K-12 context.
٠ To give students options in their uniform choices and increase their self-discipline.
DRESS EXPECTATIONS
٠ To ensure accessibility and consistency within the College, all items of College uniform must be
purchased from the Uniform Shop. The only exception to this are shoes and hair accessories.
٠ All items must be clean, ironed and in good condition. Uniform items that are faded, torn, stained or
damaged, must be replaced promptly.
٠ All items, including all College bags, should be labelled discreetly with the owner’s name and should
not display any other markings.
٠ Any undergarments worn (eg singlets etc) must not be visible.
٠ Uniform must be worn in its entirety without mixing the formal and sport uniform.
RESPONSIBILITIES REGARDING UNIFORM
٠ It is the responsibility of parents/carers to ensure that their child/ren have all the necessary uniform
items and are dressed in the correct uniform each day. Parents/carers need to inform the College, in
writing dated and signed, of any temporary problems with their child/ren being dressed incorrectly.
٠ It is the responsibility of the student to wear their uniform correctly and to be presented neatly,
consistent with College expectations.
٠ It is the responsibility of all staff to monitor student uniform.
٠ Notes from parents/carers informing the College of incorrect uniform are accepted and no
infringement will be given, but will require correction in the short term.
٠ Primary Process for Uniform Infringements:
٠ A note is sent home for any uniform infringements.
٠ Parents/carers return the reply slip.
٠ Secondary Process for Uniform Infringements:
٠ A note is placed in the diary for any uniform infringements.
٠ When a student has been given 3 uniform infringements in a term, they will receive an in-
school detention.

Students may wear the following:
A non-cellular watch without internet connectivity. (See picture on p20)
Earrings are only to be worn by girls. One earring to be worn in each earlobe. Studs
are to be no more than 4mm in diameter and are to be either plain gold or silver.
Sleepers are to be no more than 1cm in diameter and are to be either plain gold or
silver (No other earrings, including clear plastic, studs or piercings).
Stage 6 students may wear one simple ring, provided it can be easily removed for
safety reasons. No large ornate rings are to be worn.
Plain, thin gold or silver necklaces with religious pendant can be worn, not visible.
Medical alert necklaces can be worn and visible. No bangles or bracelets except
medical alert bracelets accepted.
Make-up /
Nail Polish
Only clear nail polish to be worn. Acrylic nails not permitted due to WHS risks.
Secondary girls may wear modest and discreet makeup.
Wet weather
protection
All students should have suitable wet-weather protection and use it when appropriate.
Rain coats are recommended.

Mufti Days, Camps and Excursions
Mufti On mufti days, clothing needs to be modest and consistent with the College values.
Additional information will be provided for specific occasions.
Generally, the top of shoulders need to be covered (no thin straps), not low cut and must
cover midriff.
Shorts need to be no less than mid-thigh length.
For Year 5 & 6 and Secondary girls, leggings and tights may only be worn with an
appropriate length dress or skirt.
Safety regulations require that only covered shoes are to be worn at the College, and
consequently sandals and thong-style footwear are not permitted.
Camps The above mufti rules apply.
A packing list will be sent home prior to the camp outlining the required clothing.
Swimming
Costumes
Sun-safe options of board shorts and rash shirts are recommended for both boys and
girls and may be compulsory for certain events. Girls must wear a modest, one-piece
costume. Girls may wear a two-piece costume, provided that they also wear a rash shirt.
Male costumes must be of modest size and design and must include boardshorts.

In line with the Strategic Plan, our K-12 House System has been restructured and from 2019 there will be
four houses:

٠ Each House is named after an Australian Christian
٠ Each House is linked to one of the College values, with the overarching value of Faith tying them
altogether
٠ There are 2 males (William Arnott & Matthew Hale) and 2 females (Betty Cuthbert & Eva Burrows)
٠ Each House has a mascot which is an Australian native animal
CUTHBERT ٠ Named after Betty Cuthbert. She was one of Australia’s most
successful athletes, representing Australia in the 1956 & 1964
Olympics, as well as 1958 & 1962 Commonwealth games. She is a
well-publicised Christian who has been up front with the public
about God being the reason why and who she ran for

ARNOTT ٠ Named after William Arnott, founder of Arnott's biscuits. He was a
Christian, noted for his lovable and kindly nature. He and his wife
were active in philanthropic work and the Wesleyan Church

HALE ٠ Named after Matthew Hale. Matthew Hale was an Anglican
Minister, Bishop, Missionary, Scholar and Educationist. When he
retired from service as a Bishop, he went on to be an advocate for
Aboriginal Australian Rights. He was known as “The Good Bishop”

٠ Named after Eva Burrows. Eva Burrows served in pastoral,
missionary, training and administrative roles in Australia, the United
Kingdom, Africa and Sri Lanka. She was the second Australian to be
elected as a Salvation Army General. She served faithfully and
achieved many successes. She had come to be known as the "Global
Parent" within the Salvation Army she served for 64 years

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. General
When do the transitional arrangements conclude?
Transitional arrangements conclude December 2021. From January 2022, all students need to wear the
new formal/sports uniform and accessories as per the College Uniform Policy.
Can a 2022 Year 12 student still wear the old uniform?
No. The transitional period concludes December 2021 and all students need to comply with the College
Uniform Policy as from January 2022.
Do students need to own each uniform item?
No. Students do not need to own each item available. There are options available to allow students to
choose which combination of items they would like to wear, as long as formal and sports uniform are not
mixed and students comply with the College Uniform Policy.
Are uniform pieces gender specific?
Yes. The design of the new uniform presents several options for boys and girls. Formal uniform pieces
have a female and male fit. The new sports uniform is unisex in design.
Is there a new summer and winter uniform?
No. The College has adopted a uniform design that does not specify winter and summer uniform.
Students choose what to wear throughout the year. The College has an expectation that students will
attend the College dressed in accordance with the weather.
Although there is no specified summer and winter uniform, all secondary students need to wear their
blazer between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Year 11 and 12 boys also need to wear a tie during this
period, with formal shirt tucked in.
Can a student wear the new track suit with the old sports uniform?
No. Old and new sports uniform cannot be worn together. This principle is applicable to both formal and
sports uniform.
Is the Uniform Shop on the College Grounds?
Yes. On Octavia street in the Primary staff carpark.
2. Bags
Are all College Bags the same size?
No. There are different sizes of College Bags available that are suitable for different year groups.
Can a student use the old College bag with the new uniform?
Yes. Students may use the old College bag with the new uniform until the transitional period ends
December 2021 or the College bag they have is not in acceptable condition.
Can a student use the new College bag with the old uniform?
Yes. Students may use the new College bag with old uniform until the transitional period ends December
2021.
Is the K-12 excursion bag compulsory?
Only for Primary students.

Can the K-12 excursion bag be used with old formal/sports uniform?
Yes. The K-12 excursion bag may be used with the old formal/sports uniform until December 2021. From
January 2022 all students need to wear the new formal and sports uniform because the transitional
arrangements would have come to an end.
Is the 3-6 sport bag compulsory?
No. Students who do not own the sport bag will have to take their formal College bag or excursion bag
as the only replacement when attending excursions, sport or in the case of other College activities and
events.
Can the 3-6 sport bag be used with old formal/sports uniform?
Yes. The 3-6 sports bag maybe used with the old formal/sports uniform until December 2021.
3. Old vs New Uniform
Can a 2021 Year 7 student continue to wear the old formal and sports uniform?
No. Students in Year 7 in 2021 need to wear the new formal and sports uniform as they are transferring
to Secondary School.
Can a student new to the College in 2021 wear the old uniform?
No. All students new to the College in 2021 or during the transition period may not wear the old formal
or sports uniform.
Can a current student wear the old summer uniform during winter during the transition period?
No. The uniform policy for the old uniform during the transition period remains in place if students wear
the old uniform. It would then be a requirement that old summer and winter uniform is worn accordingly
during the transition period.
Can a student wear the new College hat, College cap or College beanie with the old formal/sports
uniform?
Yes. Students may wear the new College hat, College cap or College beanie with the old uniform.
Can a student wear the old hat/cap with the new formal/sports uniform?
No. Students may not wear the old hat or cap with the new uniform.
Can students wear the new sports uniform and continue to wear the old formal uniform?
Yes. Students may wear the old sports uniform and continue to wear new formal uniform and the other
way around until the transition period ends December 2021. This excludes students new to the College in
2021.
Can a student wear new socks with old formal uniform?
No. Old and new uniform may not be mixed.
Can a student wear the new socks with old sports uniform?
Yes. Students may wear the new sock with the old uniform.
Can a girl wear the new College hair accessories with the old uniform?
Yes. Girls may wear the new College hair accessories with the old uniform until the end of the transition
period.

4. New Uniform
Can Primary students wear the cardigan over the jumper?
No. Primary students have the option to wear either the cardigan or the jumper or the soft shell jacket as
the outer garment. The soft shell jacket can be worn over the cardigan or jumper.
Can Secondary students wear the cardigan over the jumper?
No. Secondary students have the option to wear either the cardigan or the jumper or the College blazer
as the outer garment. The College blazer can be worn over the cardigan or jumper.
Can a student wear the track suit jacket with the new formal uniform?
No. Both Primary and Secondary students are not permitted to wear the track suit jacket with the formal
uniform. Formal and sports uniform cannot be mixed.
Can a student wear a cardigan or jumper with sports uniform or track suit pants?
No. Jumpers and cardigans are formal uniform garments and formal and sports uniform cannot be
mixed. Except in extreme weather conditions when the jumper/cardigan may be worn underneath the
track suit jacket without being visible.
Can a Primary student wear the soft shell jacket as a replacement for the track suit jacket?
Yes. Primary students may wear the soft shell jacket in place of the track suit jacket. Primary students may
continue to wear the soft shell jacket in Secondary School until the jacket does not fit, or is no longer in
good condition as a replacement for the track suit jacket. The soft shell jacket may not be worn by
Secondary students with the formal uniform.
Do K-12 students need to own/wear track suit pants?
No. Although K-12 students have a choice to wear College track suit pants, students are not permitted to
wear any other track suit or pants.
5. Hats
Do students need to wear a College hat/cap? Yes. Students need to wear a College hat/cap on all occasions when they are in direct sunlight. Students
need to wear a hat for any PE or Sport lessons throughout the year. It is recommended that students wear
a College hat/cap to and from the College.
6. House Shirts
Is the new House shirt compulsory?
Yes. The new House shirt will be worn at College events only. These events include College Carnivals and
other events nominated by the College. All students must own and wear where required their House Shirt.
Can a student wear the new House shirt with old sports shorts?
Yes. During the transition period, ending December 2021, the new House shirt may be worn with the old
sport shorts. This excludes students new to the College in 2021.

7. Second hand Uniforms
Will the new uniform be sold as second hand uniform on behalf of parents by the Uniform Shop?
No. The following arrangements are in place in regard to new uniform being sold as second hand
uniform:
٠ The College Uniform Shop will only accept second hand uniform items of the new uniform as
donations in the future.
٠ Uniform items will not be sold on behalf of families any more.
٠ The College will then sell the donated items and the funds raised will be used to support charity or
missions.
٠ Second hand uniform items can be posted on the Buy, Swap Sell Page of the College Facebook page.
٠ Please donate second hand items in good condition, laundered, ironed and in good condition.
8. Uniform Shop
What is the exchange policy of the College Uniform Shop?
٠ The College Uniform Shop offers an exchange or refund for items in their original condition with its
tag attached and garments returned in its original packaging. Items can be returned with 14 days of
purchase with the original receipt shown as proof of purchase.
٠ Sale items can be exchanged only.
٠ Second hand items cannot be exchanged or refunded.
٠ Hats, caps, beanies, socks, stockings, tights, gloves and briefs cannot be returned for hygiene reasons.

9. Representative Uniforms
Do I have to purchase representative sports uniform for Gala Days or other representative sporting
events?
No. Representative sports uniform is owned by the College and supplied to students to wear when
competing. Students need to provide their own socks, swimming caps etc as required to enable
participation in events.
Do I have to wash representative sports uniform before it is returned to the College?
No. The College takes responsibility for washing representative sports uniform.
