Unit 1: Conversions
• Decimals, fractions, and percents are all ways to express a part of a whole.
• It is important to remember that all % are out of a total of 100.
• Sometimes you need to convert between these to fit a certain situation. For example, when cooking you would use fractions.
![Page 2: Unit 1: Conversions Decimals, fractions, and percents are all ways to express a part of a whole. It is important to remember that all % are out of a total](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022062716/56649dd15503460f94ac6fb7/html5/thumbnails/2.jpg)
Change 3/4 to a decimal.
There are two ways to do this.
• You can make a fraction equivalent to x/10
, x/100 , x/1,000 IF you know this easily in
your head.
• You can divide the numerator by the denominator.
Changing Fractions to Decimals
![Page 3: Unit 1: Conversions Decimals, fractions, and percents are all ways to express a part of a whole. It is important to remember that all % are out of a total](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022062716/56649dd15503460f94ac6fb7/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
Change each fraction to a decimal.
1. 13/20
2. 19/25
3. 1 5/8
4. 4/9
5. 1/6
![Page 4: Unit 1: Conversions Decimals, fractions, and percents are all ways to express a part of a whole. It is important to remember that all % are out of a total](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022062716/56649dd15503460f94ac6fb7/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
Write 0.95 as a fraction.
1. Write it as a fraction like you say it. • Ex: ninety-five hundredths =
2. Reduce if necessary.
Changing Decimals to Fractions

Percents• Example: Order the following from Least to Greatest: ¼ 0.8 50% (put in percent
form)
• 1) Convert all to common form• 2.) Order in original form
• ¼ = 0.25 = 25%• 0.8 = 80%• 50% = 50%• ANSWER ¼, 50%, 0.8

Finding a Pattern
• You may also be given the beginning of a pattern and have to fill in the rest of it.
• F, D, F, D, ____, ____, _____, ______• Whatever the pattern, you have to
change what they give you to be in the same form so you can see what the pattern is.
• But, you have to make sure you fill in the pattern in the correct form.
• Must convert TWICE!
![Page 24: Unit 1: Conversions Decimals, fractions, and percents are all ways to express a part of a whole. It is important to remember that all % are out of a total](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022062716/56649dd15503460f94ac6fb7/html5/thumbnails/24.jpg)
Example:
• 1/5, 0.4, 6/10, _____, ____, _____• F D F D F D Label
them!

sequence. Show ALL conversions.• 10.25, 10 1/2, 10.75, _________, _________, __________
