  • Why did Sasha and Micah decide to walk today?

    Micah Calls 911

    1

Micah and Sasha plan to take a walk.

The weather is cool but sunny. It is a

great day for a walk. Micah wants to walk

in the woods behind his house. Sasha

thinks this sounds like a good idea.

  • How do we know that it is not yet spring in the woods?

    Micah Calls 911

    2

The walk is very nice. The leaves are

not on the trees yet. The leaves will come

later in the spring. Sasha and Micah see

many birds on the limbs of the trees. The

    ground is still wet

    from the snow

    they had a few

    weeks ago.

  • Why did Sasha fall? 3

    Micah Calls 911

Micah and Sasha walk up a hill. They

stop to look at a small stream of water at

the bottom of the hill. Oops! As Sasha

    leans over, she

    slips on the

    ground. Sasha

    starts to fall and

    slides down the

side of the hill toward the stream.

  • Did Micah make a good decision to call 911? 4

    Micah Calls 911

Micah watches as Sasha falls. He

cannot catch her. Micah sees Sasha lying

    down at the

    bottom of the

    hill. She is not

    moving. What

    should Micah

do? Micah decides this is an emergency.

    He will call 911.

  • How would Micah answer these questions? 5

    Micah Calls 911

Micah dials 911. He hears the

    dispatcher say,

    911. What is your

    emergency? The

    person at 911 will

help. Micah explains that his friend has

fallen down the hill. What should he do?

The person at 911 asks Micah these questions:

    Where are you?

    Can you get to Sasha?

    Can she talk to you?

  • How is Micah helping Sasha? 6

    Micah Calls 911

Micah looks. He cannot safely get

down the hill to Sasha. He calls to her.

Sasha! Sasha! Can you hear me?

Micah hears Sasha answer. Yes, Micah,

    I can hear you. But

    I cannot move my

    legs. I cannot get

    up. Micah tells this

    to the person at 911.

  • How is Micah helping Sasha? 7

    Micah Calls 911

The person at 911 tells Micah to stay

there. Do not go down the hill. He can

    help Sasha by talking to

her. Help is on the way.

    Micah tells Sasha

    that help is coming. He

is glad when he hears the ambulance

coming. He watches for the ambulance to

come down the road. Micah waves when

    he sees the ambulance.

  • How is Micah helping Sasha now? 8

    Micah Calls 911

The ambulance pulls up close to the

hill. The paramedics jump out. They

are the people who will help Sasha. The

paramedics get a rope and a stretcher.

    Micah shows them

    where Sasha is lying

    at the bottom of the

    hill. The paramedics

    work quickly to gure

out how to get to Sasha.

  • How did the people from the squad help Sasha? 9

    Micah Calls 911

The paramedics move down the hill

and check Sasha. They lift her onto the

stretcher. With the rope, they pull her up

the side of the hill. Micah is happy when

he sees Sasha coming up the hill.

  • 10

    Micah Calls 911

At the top of the hill, Sasha looks over

to Micah. Thank you for helping me.

    Thank you for calling 911.

The paramedics tell Micah that Sashas

leg is broken. They will take her to the

hospital. They tell Micah he was smart

to act quickly and call 911. Micah smiles.

    He knows he helped

    his friend. Micah is

    still smiling.
