Unit 2
You are assessed on Workshop Presentations and your working record.
This is how i think you should structure you working Record.
Introduction
What is the Topic that we have been covering.
What have we used as starting point Schindlers List Photos The clip from Band of Brothers Diary extracts
What have you learnt from what you have done in lessons how has it made you feel
Item 1 – Performer 3 to 5 mins performance with discussion
Initial idea of what you and your group decided to explore in your performance. A short Paragraph of what the idea is about
and how it links with the work you have already done.
Then go through the areas of Study Structure Audience and Defining the performance space Improvisation Genre, Performance style and convention The Semiotics of Drama and Performance
When looking at the areas of study try and give as much detail and justification as you can for each one and the idea.
Social Cultural Political and HistoricalResearch
Here is any research you have done that is going to make you performance valid,
Poems Costume Names
This will then all be used to support all of your ideas later on.
Character in Context
Now right about how you have developed your character within your piece. Be really precise with this how and where does he/she fit into your piece.
What impact do they have within the Narrative of your extract Consider Semiotics Audience Use of space Relationships with others symbolism
Genre performance space and Convention
What is the aim of your piece of drama What is the best Genre to use and why? To
get your aim across( to the audience) What is the style of your piece and why,
have you been influenced by other practitioners
How has this developed With practitioners they all have certain
conventions to get the message across to the audience how has this influenced your work?
Defining Performance space
Have you thought about lighting What set you might have Where people might stand on stage to
give meaning Does this Change?
Then your Perform
Here is where you share your work with the rest of the class,
After the performance be prepared to talk about your ideas - use the Areas of Study to guide you with what to say.
You can ask the audience whether they understood elements that you were working on.
This then gets used in your evaluation.
Evaluation of Item 1
You said you wanted to do loads of stuff did you achieve it.
Areas of study Evaluation of yourself Evaluation of another's work Where do You want to go with ITEM 2
What interests you
Item 2Here you must do something that is not a performer.
Deviser – Creation of drama whether improvised or in the form of a script: It covers work created by you and work created by others.
Designers – Set, Costume, Sound, Make up, Furniture and Mixed Media
Director – Guiding the ideas stimulated by the deviser or text work, Structuring it in such a way that will maximise impact upon the function of the director Aim to work with clear intent, The work may be presented
as a work in progress by the impact of the director is evident.
I would go with Deviser or Designer
Deviser You can work on your own and devise a
Script to go with the work you have already made? You justify why you want to do it and show
the creation of the script from the conception of the idea to final script with all the changes.
The Presentation of this could be you performing it or someone else, but then you talk about it in detail.
Designer
Mixed media to enhance the performance
Box Set or set design Costume design Make up
This could then be made mocked up or drawn up Then presented to the camera
Again all aspects must be considered and well justified.
Item 3
You can do what you want. Go back to your group and devise
another scene. Work on your own in a Group, Direct a group who want to perform Design for a group IT IS UP TO YOU But again work in working record – and
present Q&A
