Why?: Greater Range of Flexibility
Makes your joints more flexible
Example: A free weight exercise, the barbell
pullover, only provides resistance over 100 degrees
Same weight machine exercise provides 260 degrees of resistance, stretching your muscles further.

Why?: Time
Exercise machines are much easier to change weights than free weights and require less time
Free weights require you to adjust both sides of a the barbell with multiple weights.
