The Dewey Decimal System

This system was developed by Melvil Dewey in

1876.

The system is a method for placing books on

library shelves in a specific and repeatable

order that makes it easy to find any specific

book or to return it to its proper place.

The system is made up of 10 main classes

Melvil Dewey was

born in New York on

10th December 1851

and died on 26th

December 1931

He was a Librarian

and invented the

classification system

for library books

called the Dewey
