Unit 7 Math Review
What areEquivalent Fractions?
• Fractions that are equal. The number of equal pieces are different, but the fraction’s value (out of the whole) is the same.
• As an example, think of a two-slice pizza that has then been cut into four slices, six slices, etc. The size of the original pizza hasn’t changed!
Find Equivalent Fractions
• What is a fraction equal to 1/2 ?
• What is a fraction equal to 2/5 ?
• What is a fraction equal to 15/30 ?

ProbabilityA sack contains 4 red marbles
3 green marbles
2 black marbles
5 white marbles
You reach into the sack and pull out a marble
without looking. About what fraction of the
time would you expect to pull out a black
marble?
2/14 or 1/7

5 white marbles
What percent chance do you have of pulling out a
red marble?

Where would you plot (5, 7)?
Where would you plot (9, 0)?
Where would you plot (7, 10)?
Which Fraction is Larger?
5/6 or 11/12
11/12 is bigger because it is only 1/12 away from being a whole.
5/6 is 1/6 away from being a whole.
Twelfths are smaller pieces than sixths.
In other words, 1/12 is smaller than 1/6, so 11/12 is the larger fraction.
Making SpinnersColor the spinner so that it will land on red
about 50% of the time.
Color the spinner so that it will land on
blue about 1/4 of the time.
What fraction and percent of the spinner is yellow?1/4 or 25%
Adding and Subtracting Fractions
1/5 + 2/5 = 3/5
6/7 - 3/7 = 3/7
1/6 + 1/3 = 3/6 or 1/2 COMMON DENOMINATOR!
2/3 - 1/4 = 5/12 COMMON DENOMINATOR!
Good luck mathematicians. Happy studying!
