Placing a picture on a page

• The picture box, like a text box, is a container. Once a picture is placed in a picture box, the image and the box can both be modified.

• Adding the picture in the picture box:– File -> Get Picture– Edit -> Insert Object

• When creating a new document, you have the option of choosing the number of columns and the margin guide settings. Once a document exists, however, you can change these settings using the Master Guides command on the Page menu.

• You can change the text inset to create an attractive cushion of space between a text box and the actual text. This is useful because sometimes the text seems slammed against the left and right margins in a text box. It is also helpful if you want a small amount of text to fit better in a large text box.

• There are four categories of picture box modifications: box, picture, frame, and runaround. Each category has a tab in which you can modify settings that affect the appearance of an image. The four categories are as follows:

• Box: properties that control the actual contain in which the image is stored

• Picture : properties that control the contents of the box

• Frame: properties that control the frame that surrounds the box

• Runaround: distance of objects (such as text) to the outer edge of the box

Modifying color contrast

• The Picture Contrast Specifications dialog box lets you adjust the color values in an image using contrast controls for a specific color model. Once you’ve selected a model from the Model list arrow, you can adjust specific color qualities using the input and output controls on a graph.
