aCAMmachine.Inthiscaseitwaslasercuer.Thelasercueruseslaserstocutmaterialsintoshape.
Theotherop:onwastocutthematerialusingascalpel.Whencungoutbyhand,humanerrorcan
occur,whichcannothappenwhenusingtheCAMmachine.UsingtheCAMmachineismoreaccurate&
precisethancungthecardoutbyhand,thereforegivingabeer,moreaccuratemodel.
Inthismodel,Ihavebeenabletoadjustthecutoutsonthehandle/casesothatitismoreergonomicfor
thehumanhand.Usingacomputertodesignthetool,Ihavetheadvantageofbeingabletoseea
visualisa:onofwhatthecutoutcomponentswouldlooklikeifitweretobeprinted,improvingthe
design.
AnotheradvantageofdesigningthetoolonthecomputeristhatIplantocutmyhandle/caseoutusinga
CAMmachine.ThismeansthatIcanusethedesignsI'veusedtocreatethiscardmodeltocreatethefinal
versions,whichwillbeinplas:c.

Alongwithourmul:-tool,atorchneededtobedeveloped.Forthisproduct,wehadtodesign,createandconstructthe
light’selectroniccircuitandit’scasing.
ThelightselectroniccircuitwasdesignedusingYenkaElectronics.WhenIhadthenecessaryelectroniccomponents,such
astheprintercircuitboard(PCB),LED,baery,baeryholder,switchandresistor,theelectroniccircuitwasthencreated
bysolderingthenecessarycomponentstothePCBboard,usingsolderandasolderingiron.Theelectroniclightwasnow
completedandamethodofhousingtheelectroniccomponentswereneeded.
Acaseforthelightwasalsorequired,tohousetheelectroniccomponents.Idesignedthelight’scaseonaCADprogram
called2DDesign.WhenthedesignwascompleteitwassenttotheC.A.M(Computeraidedmodelling)machine,whichis
thelasercuer.Whenallplas:cpartswerecompletelymanufactured,theywerethenassembledtogether,andthen
electroniclightwassecuredintothecasesothatthelight’sswitchisabletobeturnedonandofffromoutsidethecase.
Anotherplas:ccomponentwasalsodesignedwhichaachestotheboomofthelight’scasing,sothatthelightcanfit
securelyonthemetalmul:-toolwhenitisclosed.Thispieceofplas:cismouldedsothatitfitsintothespacewhichis
cuttomakethecase/handlemoreergonomic,thereforewhenthemetalmul:-toolisshuttheLEDlightcanfitsecurely
inthemul:-toolscase.

erec:ngfunc:on,thereforethisproductisannewinnova:oninmul:-tooltechnology,andshouldaractcustomersduetoitbeingoriginal.

Whencungoutbyhand,humanerrorcanoccur,whichcannothappenwhenusingtheCAMmachine.
UsingtheCAMmachineismoreaccurate&precisethancungthecardoutbyhand,thereforegivinga
beer,moreaccuratemodel.
Inthismodel,Ihavebeenabletoadjustthecutoutsonthehandle/casesothatitismoreergonomicfor
thehumanhand.Usingacomputertodesignthetool,Ihavetheadvantageofbeingabletoseea
visualisa:onofwhatthecutoutcomponentswouldlooklikeifitweretobeprinted,improvingthe
design.
AnotheradvantageofdesigningthetoolonthecomputeristhatIplantocutmyhandle/caseoutusinga
CAMmachine.ThismeansthatIcanusethedesignsI'veusedtocreatethiscardmodeltocreatethefinal
versions,whichwillbeinplas:c.
