&a$id strides in infor#ation tec,nology ,ave in fact redefined t,e role and structure of
(anking in India. Furt,er due to e$osure to glo(al trends after Infor#ation e$losion led
(y Internet custo#ers < (ot, Individuals and +or$orate < are now de#anding (etter
services wit, #ore $roducts fro# t,eir (anks. Financial #arket ,as turned into a (uyer=s#arket. Banks are also c,anging wit, ti#e and are trying to (eco#e one<sto$ financial
su$er#arkets.

United Bank of India (UBI) is one of the 14 major bankswhich were nationalized on July 19, 1969. Its predecessor thenited !ank of India "td., was formed in 19#$ with theamal%amation of four banks &iz. 'omilla !ankin% 'orporation"td. (1914), !en%al 'entral !ank "td. (191*), 'omilla nion!ank "td. (19++) and oo%hly !ank "td.
