OVERVIEW 

United Bank of India (UBI) is one of the 14 major bankswhich were nationalized on July 19, 1969. Its predecessor thenited !ank of India "td., was formed in 19#$ with theamal%amation of four banks &iz. 'omilla !ankin% 'orporation"td. (1914), !en%al 'entral !ank "td. (191*), 'omilla nion!ank "td. (19++) and oo%hly !ank "td. (19-+) (which wereestablished in the years indicated in brackets after the names).he ori%in of the !ank thus %oes as far back as to 1914. /sa%ainst 104 branches, s. 140 crores of deposits and s. 11+crores of ad&ances at the time of nationalisation in July, 1969,
