We are touched by your love and your generosity, and I don't know how to adequately thank you. For those who don't have a lot of backstory on who Rhyder was and why he died at such a young age, he was my sister's fifth child. He was born with multiple health issues, including a problem with his immune system and a missing chromosome. After going to the emergency room in late March with a heart problem, his heart stopped beating. Medical personnel performed CPR for 40 minutes before they were able to restart his heart. However, the extreme lack of oxygen took effect and he suf- fered brain damage to multiple areas of the brain, including a loss of the systems which controlled motor function, cognitive thinking and personality. He continued to deteriorate for the next few days, and after my sister and her husband made the difficult decision to remove him from life support, he passed away on April 6. We continue to be grateful for prayers for the family - and for all those who have lost loved ones recently, as our church and community have suffered so many losses since Thanksgiving of last year - and thank you again for your support, encouragement and love through this difficult time. In such tragedies as the loss of a child, we always are left with more questions than answers, and this death is no different. We haven't gotten many of the answers we'd like, but we hold tight to the truth God is walking with my sister and her family in this hurt and he will not forsake them. Specifically in this hurt, we are clinging to Scripture and to God's promises. I have been drawn to reflecting on John 14:18, "I will not leave you comfortless; I will come to you." As for any memorials, we humbly ask that they be made to the Air Conditioning Fund, which will be used to provide adequate facilities for our Education Building and for the children of our Little School and Vacation Bible School. I can think of no better way to honor my nephew than to serve other children. In Christ, Adam

Brothers and sisters,

I want to thank everyone for the heartfelt well wishes and the blessing of the love offering you gave to my family in the wake of the death of my 7-month-old nephew Rhyder Campbell.

However, the extreme lack of oxygen took effect and he suf-fered brain damage to multiple areas of the brain, including a loss of the systems which controlled motor function, cognitive thinking and personality.

I have been drawn to reflecting on John 14:18, "I will not leave you comfortless; I will come to you."

As for any memorials, we humbly ask that they be made to the Air Conditioning Fund, which will be used to provide adequate facilities for our Education Building and for the children of our Little School and Vacation Bible School. I can think of no better way to honor my nephew than to serve other children.

In Christ, Adam

Education Building Air Conditioner Unit Report

On March 31, the 15 ton air conditioner, which serves the Little School classroom and Nursery, failed. A repairman was called who found it low on Freon (R22) because of a continuing non-repairable leak. The unit took 10 pounds of R22 Freon (at $60 per pound) which comes out to $600, and the service call was $90. The 15 ton unit is still leaking, and will continue to leak. It is impossible to predict how often this will happen. The more it is used, the more often it will leak. This problem has been ongoing for many years. Years ago we were able to acquire some 30 pound bottles of R22 Freon which was stored away and used as needed. A/C units using R22 Freon gets more expensive as it becomes harder to find. The new units will be upgraded to 410A Freon, which is the Freon used in industry now.

Our church needs to:

1. Replace the existing 15 ton unit with a new 15 ton unit, that uses a gas/heat system, which would include a new fan/coil, gas duct heaters and condenser.

2. Remove the 10 ton system and replace with new fan/coil and gas duct heat. The existing 10 ton condenser will be used.

3. Replace the 5 ton system for the Chapel and install a new gas furnace, coil and condenser.

4. Remove the asbestos used in all 3 of our mechanical rooms, (which should have been done years ago when it was cheaper to do), now the cost is $15,484.

The new A/C system with gas/heater will replace the existing boiler being used for heating. The boiler has problems that we have been dealing with, but that is another story.

The approximate cost is around $66,000. We (Trustees & Finance committees) are looking at ways to finance this. We are appealing to you for help. The more we can give, will be less money that we have to take a loan out for. There are some grants out there, that will be applied for, but there are no guarantees. This is a big expense, but we as a church can do this. Earlier church members before us scarified to provide buildings for us, now it is our turn to unite and show what we can do!

*Update* As of 4/25/16 we have raised a grand total of $25,210. This is to include a $5,000 donation from the the Little Church School!

Seasons for Wholeness message for May 2016 on “WOMEN’S HEALTH”

“Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that your sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me!” Luke 10:40

Are you a Mary who is eager to sit back and learn new things or a Martha who worries about the details of a job and is upset when others can’t multitask? Throughout the ages women have been taught to be organizers, nurturers, and caretakers for others while neglecting their own needs and desires. Even today you are expected to be superwomen and excel in the roles of wife, mother, daughter, volunteer, employee, caretaker, protector, and businesswoman. Unfortunately while accomplishing these tasks, women forget the most important tasks of a healthy life-balance and self-care.

“Jesus said to them, ‘Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me.” Matthew 26:10.

At any age, a woman stays healthy through good nutrition, not smoking, regular exercise, and cultivation of friends. The Centers for Disease Control recommend steps that a woman should take to live a safe and healthy life and include emphasis on intake of a variety of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains daily, limiting foods and drinks high in calories, sugar, salt, fat, and alcohol and eating a balanced diet to support a healthy weight. Active exercise consists of 2 ½ hours a week including activities that raise your breathing and heart rate and strengthening your muscles. By being active we are reducing our risk for type two diabetes, heart attack, stroke, and several forms of cancer. Reduction in arthritis pain and associated disability with reduced risk for osteoporosis and falls along with reduced symptoms of depression and anxiety are also noted.

“You clothed me with skin and flesh, and you knit my bones and sinews together. You gave me life and showed me your unfailing love.” Job 10:11, 12

Healthy women start as girls. Osteoporosis is a pediatric disease with geriatric results so see that teens get enough calcium in their diets to protect their bones later in life. Encourage relaxation through hobbies, journaling, girlfriends, or other fun activities to combat the stressors of growing up. Teach preventative healthcare measures and instilling spiritual or mental habits will foster a lifelong practice of healthy habits and result in healthy bodies.

The Centers for Disease Control states that the percentage of women 20 years and over

with hypertension in the United States is 32.8% and that the percentage of women at

that age who are obese is at 35.9%. These health issues must be addressed at regular

checkups at your primary care provider. You probably intellectually understand the

importance of these checkups and health screenings but often find excuses to ignore

health issues because of the belief that caring for others is more important.

“Eve…would become the mother of all he living.” Genesis 3:20

It is important for women to maintain annual medical checkups even in the senior years. As women live longer, their risk for cardiovascular disease, cancer, and depression increases. Regular monitoring will diagnosis these issues before a concern becomes severe or debilitating. It is equally important to maintain healthy relationships with family and friends to prevent issues of depression or social isolation. Attend activities at a senior center, make physical exercise a group exercise, share meals with others, and enroll in a special interest group. Share with others the enjoyment of doing it. Play bridge or join ballroom dancing. Consider joining a book club to share thoughts or socialize. Be a friend to others and reach out and volunteer. It is possible to overcome your own troubles by helping others with their problems. Socialization gives us a sense of belonging, of being a part of the community. Remember to laugh together! “Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be

greatly praised.” Proverbs 31:30 Aging can increase the risk for some diseases therefore it is important to have regular health screenings. Included in the health screenings are blood pressure assessment, lipid profile, breast cancer screening, colonoscopy exam, cervical cancer screening, and any other evaluations your primary care provider recommends for your specific condition. Bone density assessments are also recommended for women as screening for osteoporosis. If you are feeling ‘down’, sad, hopeless, or just uninterested in things for more than two weeks you may need screening for depression. Being proactive is very important for your overall health and well-being.
