WIDESPREAD HOSPITALITY - Strategical thinking This type of tourism development projects for the recovery of historical heritage in small historic villages is a new model of tourism hospitality and investment opportunities, which represent an emerging trend in the Italian tourism scenario (article on SITE January-March 2008 - UNESCO trimester magazine on Cultural Policy). These projects especially address the demand of those interested in areas of cultural heritage, in contact with local populations and traditional hotel services. They have strong community based cultural tourism components and when the strategy is applied in developing country, it can enhance local economy and reduce poverty. The main goal of this project is to promote and develop a commercial network between Regione Marche and the United States to enhance the export of regional wine and typical food products as well as incoming food and wine tourism. Based on our plan the two institutions decided to finance and get involved in this project in order to face the internationalization problem of small and middle size businesses (SMEs represent the majority of the regional economy) by opening and marketing a tasting room in California which counts over 2 million wine tourists a year.
