CHICAGO – Association House of Chicago received the 2009 Outstanding Partner of the Year Award at the United Way Annual Community Celebration that took place on Friday, May 8, 2009 at the Hilton Chicago. By aligning with the United Way’s mission and regular participation in United Way’s Days of Caring, Association House was recognized and honored for its extraordinary contribution, support, leadership and continuous help to improve thousands of lives across metropolitan Chicago.

ASSOCIATION HOUSEThis year Association House, 1116 N. Kedzie Ave., will celebrate 110 years of continuous service. What began as a settlement house started by Ellen Holt and social reformer Jane Addams in 1899, has gown into a community resource that provides a state-of-the-art technology center, job placement programs, and a safe haven for children and teens from one of Chicago’s toughest neighborhoods, as well as a food pantry.
