Im going to share my web browser with you. Your screen will turn green or brown for a few seconds and then you will see my desktop.

Im going to click on the Teacher Center link at the top of the page, and go to the Assignment Builder home page. I can search for assignments by keyword or subject area. For this example, Im going to select science from the subject search and then click on search.

Lets take a look at the Water Cycle sample assignment. You can see the Learning Objectives and Assignment Instructions are displayed, as well as the media for this assignment, including full videos, video segments and images.

I can make a copy of this assignment. Ill use the breadcrumb links to go back a step and then Ill click on the copy link next to the assignment I want to copy. When I copy the assignment, it will be added to a folder in My Content. The Assignment Builder is always accessible from the Teacher Center link at the top of the page.

Click on the Assignment Builder icon or title to open the Assignment Builder tool.To create a new assignment, simply click on the Create New button.

You can also search for sample assignments on this page.Talk briefly through the 5 steps each mouse click will advance to the next step in the chainClick the mouse to make the required fields box move down.

There are several required fields in Assignment Builder, including the:Assignment NameAuthorSchoolSubject Area andGrade Level

You can also enter in instructions for the entire Assignment, like make sure you have your journals and a pen with before you begin this assignment. When we get further into the assignment, youll see theres a place to add instructions that are specific to media type, like videos and images. You can also include Learning Objectives and Notes to yourself, like make sure to download videos before students begin this assignment.

When you click Save make sure to have your pop-up blockers turne off, or hold down the Control key to override your pop-up settings. How many of you have been using unitedstreaming for several months or years? Do you remember the Playlist?

We have updated the Playlist. We now save all information in folders within My Content. If you created Playlists, Assignments or Quizzes in the past, you will find them in folders in My Content.

Once you complete the basic information for your assignment, its a good idea to click on the Save button. Youll see a window that looks like this. You can select an existing folder in My Content or create a new one.Now that youve saved your assignment, its time to add materials. Unitedstreaming has added some exciting new media types like audio and animations (which are coming in September).

You can search for media by keyword, subject and/or grade. You can also refine your search by search for a specific media type like videos or images.

If youve already created a quiz or writing prompt, you can add that to your assignment too.

And if you scroll to the bottom of the screen, youll see that you can add website URLs. Once youve added your materials, click the Continue button. As I mentioned before, you can add instructions that are specific to the material type.

(**click the mouse to make the box move down over each media type instruction)

In this example, the instructions ask students to watch a video segment first with the sound on, and then with the sound off. They will be writing their own narration for a video segment, and the teacher is using video, images and a website to inform the process. The preview section lets you see what media youve added and gives you a snapshot of the lesson. The Summary page is very important.

This is where you will get the information you need to make the assignment available to Students.

The first way to do this is by giving the Assignment Code to students. Its a good idea to bookmark the unitedstreaming Student Center on the computers in your classroom. Once students have the Student Center open on their web browser, they type in the Assignment Code and their name in the space provided.

The other way to give students access to an assignment is by providing the Assignment URL. This takes them directly to the Student Center with the Assignment Code already populated. All they have to do is enter their name. You can copy and paste the Assignment URL into a Word or PowerPoint document and it will take students directly to the Student Center.

This is what the Student Center log-in page looks like.

(Click the mouse to make the box move down)

We will be releasing a new version of the Student Center later this fall. Until that time, this is how students access your assignments. You can always access your assignments in My Content. This is a great way to stay organized, and it doesnt take up any space on your computer its all stored on the unitedstreaming servers.
