THE, SILENT WORDLast Sunday morning our Speaker

voiced the following in giving the word for Silent meditation:

It is the Lord’s good will to give me the Kingdom. The Kingdom of God is nigh unto us. It is just as near as we can conceive it. It is a mental condition. We put forth our effort and meet it half way. Let us hold in the Silence, “The Kingdom of God is mine now.”

A CONVENIENT SEASON.Extracts from a lecture by Charles

Fillmore, Oct. 17, 1909-“Felix was terrified and answered:

go thy way for this time: and when I have a convenient season, I will call unto thee.”

History repeats itself in every man’s life.

Felix was a politician, very busy with his wire-pulling, and bribe-taking. He thought worldly success the all important thing.

The scramble for the weak and beggarly things of the world keeps many a man from the Kingdom of heaven.

Things have not changed much since the days of Paul and Felix. You may be putting off the day of your salvation by thinking you have not the time to devote to spiritual things.

But the “more convenient season” did not come to Felix. History says he was killed in the great eruption of Vesuvius in ’79- Is there any prospect of a more convenient season for you?

“The Kingdom of God is within you.” It is not something that you have to come into, you are already in it. All you have to do is to recognize it. Stop a moment and consider. You are right in the midst of Divine Forces that wTill make your life a real success. All that is required of you is a little attention to the things of the Spirit.

“Righteousness and judgment” are as sure as the rising and setting of the sun. The Law is fixed, and every man must observe it or suffer the penalties of its transgression. Cause and effect are as mathematical in mind processes as in mechanical or chemical.

The man who puts his hand in the fire will be burned—unless he knows—ahigher law. There is always a higher extension of every material law. But spiritual laws are changeless.

If you are living without a daily recognition of the Divine Law you are not righteous, and therefore not a Christian.

You ask “Can't a man be good and live under the Divine Law without being a Christian?” No. You may be righteous from a worldly standpoint but not quickened of the Spirit to discern the Divine Law. “Ye must be born again.” This Spiritual birth is the gist of Christianity. It is more than honesty or morality, yet these are included in a Christian’s life.

A Christian is an occultist, he knows invisible things that are hidden from the intellectually wise.

Open up the hidden things of your mind by making the observance of Divine Law the first and most important thing

in your life. Begin each day by affirming:

“This day wilt Thy Spirit save me from my transgressions and bring me under thy Perfect Law, through Christ.”

This W e e k l y U n it y was set on the New Linotype and printed on the new Optimus.

A report from Oklahoma City says that the center there is doing fine, and Judge and Mrs. Benson are bringing to pass a great work.

Musical numbers are being selected for the Unity Sunday School Christmas entertainment. The Committee will be glad of any suggestions.

The members of the Unity Guild are working hard on an entertainment which they expect to give before the Unity people the week before Thanksgiving.

The Speaker’s collection on Sunday morning, October 17th, was $9.82. The evening collection was $1.60. The morning envelope collection was $9.83, and the evening 10c.

A check for $100.00 to be applied on the New Unity Building fund was received from our friend in Pennsylvania who so lovingly donated the Orchestrelle two years ago. This is in answer to our prayer and we should rejoice.

The Unity printing plant has grown a little more. The first press which was

installed a little over two years ago has been outgrown, and removed. In its place stands a new Optimus press having a speed of three times the one taken out.

A new linotype has also been installed.U n it y has recently been increased

from 64 to 80 pages and the number of copies printed to 14,000. This increase in size and quantity of the magazine, together with the many new books and booklets that must be printed has made it necessary to take a step forward.

Friends of Unity will be glad to know that Benjamin Fay Mills will deliver a course of lectures in the Unity Auditorium. Sunday, October 31st he will deliver three lectures; at 11 a. m. “Behind the Veil,” 3:30 p. m. “If I were the Devil” and at 7 :30 p. m. “The Sixth Sense.”

During the week he will deliver five evening lectures beginning Monday and ending Friday. There will also be a morning class of five lessons beginning Monday and running through Friday. He will deal with an exposition of the inner meaning of I Corinthians XIII in this morning class. Free-will offerings will be received in return for the teaching. In speaking of the class, Mr. Mills wrote: “This class will be limited to those who agree to come and attend to business just as much as though they paid a high fee for it, and I will expect the members of it to register on cards which you will please have printed according to the copy which I send you.”

WEEKLY UNITY

RESPONSIVE SERVICE

Sunday, October 24You are naturally courageous. Prove

it by affirming,“The fearlessness of Infinite Inno-

cense and Love dwells in me.”Health is the natural state of man. Do

not allow any thought opposed to this place in your mind. Say with positive assurance,

“The peace and harmony of Divine Mind makes me perpetually healthy.”

A Spirit of Safety awaits your recognition. Co-operate with it, and avoid all fear of impending danger, by silently holding,

“The Spirit of the Lord goes before me and makes safe and secure all the way.”

Your work will be easy if you do it in the Spirit and quietly affirm,

“It is not I but the Father within me, he doeth the work.”

You will not be unjustly dealt with if you invoke the Divine Justice with this statement,

“My justice cometh from the Lord, and I trust it to regulate all my affairs.”

When your heart is filled with love, you are expressing the Mind of God. “God is Love.” Prove this by affirming,

“The Love of God manifests in my every thought.”

Everything in your world will become flexible and responsive to your thought if you fill your heart with tenderness. Let this be your daily affirmation,

“The tenderness of God is poured out through me to all his creatures.”

You can be abundantly supplied with all things for your good, if you realize that God is your supply and support. Affirm,

“I am the Substance of things hoped for.”

You will not suffer from anxiety if you say often,

“The Law of the Lord is perfect.”You can destroy all your enemies by

sending them this thought,“By this shall all men know that ye

are my disciples because ye have Love one to another.”

You can be very wise if you faithfully realize,

“Divine Wisdom guides and directs me in all my ways.”

The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of the Unity Society of Practical Christianity will be beld Monday evening, October 25th. Applications for membership should be in before 8 o’clock on that evening. All truth seekers are invited to become members.

WEEKLY UNITYThe week day afternoon classes in

Health and Harmony will begin at 2 :30 instead of 3 :3 0 . The Sunday afternoon class will be at 3:30 as usual and will be known as The Concentration class.

The people in Unity offices were very pleasantly surprised Friday morning to receive a call from Mrs. Chas. Edgar Prather. She will remain in the city for a month and will have plenty of time to visit with all her Unity friends.

“IT’S AN ILL WIND.—” Some time ago there was a flood in

British Columbia. An old fellow who had lost nearly everything he possessed was sitting on the roof of his house as it floated along when a boat approached.

“Hello, John!”“Hello, Dave!”“Are your fowls all washed away,

John?”“Yes, but the ducks can swim,” re

plied the old man.“Apple-trees gone?”“Well, they said the crop would be a

failure, anyhow.”“I see the flood’s away above your

window.”“That’s all right, Dave. Them win

ders needed wasliin’, anyhow.”—Pearson’s Weekly.

METAMORPHOSIS.After a visit to a famous entomologist,

whose wonderful microscopes have proved

that there is always some living being to be found preying on the last of the minutest creature last seen, an English writer turned to him and said:

“I came here, believing myself to be an individual. I leave, knowing myself to be a community.”—Youth’s Companion.

AUXILIARY MEETING.The regular monthly meeting of the

Woman’s Auxiliary will be held Friday October 29th at 3 p. m. in the parlors at Unity Building. Let every member be present.
