Opportunities and Threats”

The global software market is vast and varied - it contains

thousands of different companies. For dozen

years software development

transformed from a single business of

programmers into an important and powerful

industry.

Russia steadily occupies the third place in the annual

Global Services rating of top-100 leading IT

outsourcing organizations by the number of companies

after India and the USA.

The USA comes to the top five leading

countries in terms of both exports and

imports of information

technology, in spite of the growing

competition in the market of developed

and developing countries.

Russia in the global software market competes not with the United States and European

countries, but with India, China, Vietnam and other countries of

cheap labor.

According to NASSCOM, two-thirds of the global "offshore" outsourcing market

belongs to India. The main customers of Indian service are the companies from the

USA and Europe. The USA consumes about 60% of Indian software products.

In the US, demand for software development

services is hardly growing. Further, for the purpose of job

preservation, the American government undertakes

certain measures limiting the activities of foreign service companies in the country. The protectionism already

displeased the largest Indian outsourcing companies for which the US market is the

main one.

Indian companies are faced with the protectionist actions of the US government that essentially affected

sales volumes due to their high dependence on the American market. As a result, Indian companies were and are forced to shift to markets in Asia and Europe

where they find it difficult to compete with East European companies because of existing cultural

barriers.

According to a number of reputable sources, Russia has a huge potential in the software

development sphere. The Microsoft research results which were published in the spring of

2010 testify that about 850,000 Russians have programming skills.

Software development in India, Russia and the USA can be characterized as “Unity in Diversity” due to their aspiration to promote the development of science, education, industry, medicine, space and many other aspects of our life by providing the customers all over the world with high quality software services.
