UIL BASKETBALL GAME AND SEASON LIMITS

2015 - 2016

Basketball Season Limit

•0 Invitational Tournaments plus 25 games OR



•3 Invitational Tournaments plus 19 games

Same site same night, a student can play two games (junior varsity and varsity,

etc.) in one night but counts as two games towards their season limit and the

student is done for the week.

UIL BASKETBALL REGULATIONS

2015 - 2016

• Holiday restriction – a school shall not conduct contests or practices during 5 consecutive days of December. A school may chose any five consecutive days which include December 24, 25, and 26. (Thanksgiving Break)

• Tiebreaker procedures not clearly defined by district rules at beginning of season will default to UIL tiebreaker rules.

• District VARSITY games postponed by weather or public disaster shall be rescheduled on the next available date (played as an exception to school week limitation).

Rules Revision

1 A player becomes a ball handler when he/she receives the ball. This would include the player in a post position.

2. A new signal for officials was added to indicate that the team inbounding the may move along the end line after a made basket when a time out or injury has occurred.

Major Editorial Changes

1. By state association adoption, one commemorative/memorial patch be worn on the jersey.

2. All sleeves/tights shall be the same solid color and must be same color as any headband or wristband worn.

3. Headbands and wristbands shall be white, black, beige or the predominant color of the jersey and shall be the same color for each item and all participants. The must be the same color as any sleeves/tights worn.

GENERAL

•Increase the number of teams advancing to playoffs from each to 4

for all conference 2A schools

•Change to preseason practice requirements – water and rest breaks

now count.

•Addition of Pilot Spirit Program

FOOTBALL

•Create a pilot program providing home field advantage to the higher

seed in the first round of the 2015 6A football playoffs

• Create a separate championship for Conference 1A volleyball

• Allow three (3) games per day in a one (1) day tournament

• Allowance for elimination of the championship and third place

matches at the Area Meet, by mutual agreement

• Change scoring format in both singles and doubles (including

mixed doubles) to a ten (10) point match tie breaker in lieu of a

third set, when the first two sets are split

• Addition of a fee scale for Swimming and Diving Officials to section

1. “NFHS TEACHING AND MODELING BEHAVIOR” COURSE

– 1.5 hour course/$20 – minimum penalty for coach ejection

2. “NFHS FUNDAMENTALS OF COACHING” COURSE

– 6 hour course/$35 – all first year coaches and any coach who is not a full

time employee of the school district.

PLEASE PRINT CERTIFICATE TO VERIFY COMPLETION.
