Letter from the President

Hey guys! It has been an incredible first month of

service with all of you. I am so happy to have gotten to know each and every one of you and I am very excited to see what experiences you take on with this club. There are so many opportunities to come our way but this club has already started off a new school year strongly thanks to all of you. Within two weeks of meetings, we already participated in the Rattlesnake Run, Ronald McDonald House, Flavors of Tucson, Habitat for Humanity, and the Arizona Insect Festival. That is a huge amount of service and I'm really proud of our achievements. Start looking into committees and coming up with different ideas you would like to see with CKI. This club is made to be all of ours together and I encourage you to step up and make your time with us the best you can make it. Keep up the good work!

Yours in Service, Michael Zimmerman

Leadership Academy By Aubrey Renaker

This summer Aubrey Renaker, the Baja Division Lt. Governor (the division our club is in) attended Leadership Academy. In this article she discusses her experience there and what she learned.

Leadership Academy was a week that completely changed my life. When I initially applied and registered for it, I did so mainly unaware of what I had signed up for. Ava Red, our wonderful Governor, told me again and again that it would be an amazing, life-changing weekend, but truthfully, I didn't completely believe her. Now, as a Leadership Academy graduate of 2015, I can say without a shadow of a doubt that Leadership Academy was everything she said it was and more. It’s a week of self-discovery, making amazing lifelong best friends, and learning what servant leadership is truly about. Leadership Academy is unexplainable, extraordinary, and so special. It’s a week full of laughing, crying, dancing, having giant sleepovers, meeting the best people EVER, and probably more crying. It was a week of my life I wish I could live over and over again. If you have the chance to go to Leadership Academy next summer- GO! It was one of the best weeks of my life and I know everyone who went feels the same way!

New  Member  Orientation  Review  Sheet

Don’t  worry,  there  won’t  be  a  test  on  this  information.  This  sheet  is  just  to  help  you  review  what  we  learned  at  New  Member  Orientation  in  case  you  have  any  questions.

What  do  dues  go  towards?

Dues  go  to  a  few  different  places.  They  help  us  pay  for  insurance  just  in  case  you  get  hurt  at  a  service  event.  They  also  go  towards  conventions  like  DCON  and  Fall  Rally  and  also  international  conventions  like  CKIX  and  Leadership  Academy.

What  are  the  organizations  that  CKI  supports  at  an  international  level?

CKI  supports  a  number  of  different  charities  at  the  national  level.  These  include  the  ELIMINATE  Project,  March  of  Dimes,  Up  with  People,  and  Better  World  Books.

How  is  CKI  organized?  It  starts  at  the  club  level,  then  it  goes  to  Districts,  then  Divisions,  then  Sub-‐Regions,  and  finally  International.

What  is  the  K-‐Family?  The  K-‐Family  is  all  of  the  organizations  that  are  a  part  of  Kiwanis.  These  include  Kiwanis  Kids,  Builder’s  Club,  Key  Club,  CKI,  Action  Club,  and  Kiwanis.
