Karate Club Monthly Report- Feb & Mar, 10-11

12/2 Reunion dinner

We have reunion dinner in Cafe Triple Crown after training and about 40 members attended, including senior members and some new members from the second semester beginner class. We all had a great time for celebration. Thanks must be given to our Sensei for his generous treat. 

21/2New Rules Seminar for USFHK Karate Championship 2009-2010 and AGM

  The Referee Council of The Karatedo Federation of Hong Kong, China Limited was invited to organize a New Rules Seminar (WKF 6.0 Rules version) at Lindsay Ride Sports Center from 2 to 5pm for the USFHK Karate Championship in March. Contestants from different institutes joined in which 23 are from HKU U-Team. Some senior club members who were officials or helpers in the championship also joined.

On the same day, the AGM of session 2009-2010 was held. The new exco members were elected. Also, nominees for certain awards have been elected, they were Wong Hoi Ching (Player of the Year), Muriel, Ryan and Kit (University Sports Trophies).

25/2 U-team selection and 誓師大會

A selection was held on 25/2 at Flora Ho Sports Centre Combat room .31 out of 33 u-team members were selected to represent HKU to join the USFHK karate championship. We invited 5 referees from The Karatedo Federation of Hong Kong, China to help us to hold the selection. After that , we had a 誓師大會. Former Team Captain Ryan led us to read out a piece of 誓詞.

19/3 Briefing of USFHK Karate Championship

A briefing of USFHK Karate Championship was held at dojo. Tracksuits were distributed to new u-team member. After the briefing, we had dinner with sensei and coaches.

20/3 Promotion of USFHK Karate Championship and set up competition venue

Mass emails were sent to all students inviting them and their family members to come to watch the competition and support our U-team. Posters were posted up on SU board (outside KK Leung concourse) and outside CYM Canteen. Banners were hung at Haking Wong podium, outside East Gate and outside Flora Ho Sports Center. 

Also, we set up the competition venue in Flora Ho Sports Center for the coming USFHK Karate Championship.

21/3 USFHK Karate Championship

The Championship was held at Flora Ho Sports Centre with the participation from 9 tertiary Institutions in HK. Our U-team has got remarkable results. We achieved the overall champion in addition to the champion of both male and female team. There were 31 members in our U-team, of which one was absent on the day of the championship. We won 9 individual gold medals, 3 individual silver medals and 14 individual bronze medals. The results were definitely delighting and encouraging. The Championship ran smoothly and successfully with the contribution of a large team of helpers.

KFHKC chairman Mr. Kwong Kwan Ming gave a speech after the competition.

After the competition, we have celebration dinner with sensei in cc canteen.

25/3 Celebration Buffet for USFHK Champions

As our Karate U-team achieved overall champion, Male Team Champion and Female Team Champion, Sensei treated U-team members and other Coaches buffet in Excelsior Hotel: Cafe on the 1st for celebration.

28/3 Karate belt grading examination

Our white and yellow belt members have taken the belt grading examination.

1/4 Adjustment to the current course fee for regular members

Starting from this season, there will be an increase of $100 in course fee for all current members: $500 for undergraduates, $650 for postgraduates and $850 for graduates. There is no change in course fee for summer beginner course.

1/4 progress of summer course promotion

We have designed new poster flyers and table stand for summer course promotion.
