Wifi is available across many University halls through the eduroam service (see Get online). All rooms also have a wired connection to our own internet service, Hornet.
Hornet connects all student rooms to the internet and also provides support for online gaming.

IT desks in each of the University libraries offer
guidance on using your personal device on campus.
Bring along your mobile device and have one of our
team help you set it up to connect to University
systems and services.
The University is part of the eduroam wireless
network, along with many other UK and European
universities.
After initial setup, eduroam remembers who you are
- so you don’t have to log in each time you go online.

You can print from a PC cluster and wirelessly
from your own laptop, tablet or smartphone
using University WiFi.
Printing is charged and you can credit your
print account via the online ePayments system
or via payment kiosks located in selected
PC clusters.
Your IT account includes storage space for
your work, which you can access in two ways:
1 – Online as ‘My Documents’
(through My Manchester)
2 – From the ‘Documents’ folder on
your desktop (in a PC cluster)
Most lecture theatres feature recording
technology so you can replay lectures to
study and revise. Last year over 30,000 hours
were recorded resulting in 2,500,000 podcast
downloads!
Access these by following instructions on
the Blackboard eLearning system.
Your IT account includes access to Office 365 for email, with 25GB of space. It’s easy to access this from your mobile or
tablet – see: www.its.manchester.ac.uk/email/student
Find buildings on campus; search for your
nearest café; locate your nearest PC cluster;
access the Blackboard eLearning environment
and much more, all through the iManchester
mobile app.Search for iManchester in Google Play or the
Apple App Store to download it for free.
There are more than 3,000 computers for you to use for free, across campus and in halls of residence.
Our PC clusters are clearly identified on campus maps.
