MICHIGAN TENNIS CAMP STAFF Ronni Bernstein is in her tenth season as head coach of the University of Michigan women’s tennis program. The Wolverines have strung together the best seven-year span in program history from 2010- 2016, posting seven straight seasons with 20-plus wins, including 24-5 records in 2010 and 2011, while winning six Big Ten championships. For her efforts, Bernstein garnered Big Ten Coach of the Year honors in five seasons, and was twice named ITA Midwest Region Coach of the Year (2010 & 2011). Bernstein was a four-time All-American in both singles and doubles during her collegiate career at the University of Miami (Fla.) from 1984- 88. She was named the NCAA Senior Player of the Year in 1988 after reaching the finals in doubles and semifinals in singles at the national tournament. As a sophomore in 1985-86, Bernstein (then Reis) teamed with Lise Gregory to win both the ITA National Indoor and NCAA doubles titles en route to finishing the year with an undefeated record of 29-0. Among her other credits, Bernstein claimed the doubles gold medal at the 1985 Pan American Games, the doubles bronze medal at the 1986 Goodwill Games and she was a triple gold medalist at the 1985 Maccabiah Games. In 2000, Bernstein was inducted into the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame. Eleven of Steinberg’s players at Pepperdine were named All-Americans 27 times (13 in singles, 14 in doubles), and a Wave student-athlete was named WCC Player of the Year in 12 of his 13 seasons. In addition, he tutored 32 All-WCC first-team selections in singles and 18 first-team doubles pairs. In 22 years as a head coach, Steinberg, who has also made coaching stops at Alabama, Northwestern and St. John’s, has accumulated an overall record of 412-184 (.691). Prior to taking the helm at Pepperdine, he was the head coach at Alabama (1998-02), and led the Crimson Tide to three NCAA Tournament appearances. Ronni Bernstein is in her tenth season as head coach of the University of Michigan women’s tennis program.

Additional camp counselors include certified teaching professionals and coaches as well as members of the University of Michigan women’s and men’s teams. The staff also includes a first responder who is on site at all times.

The University of Michigan Varsity Tennis Center (2250 S. State St, Ann Arbor, MI 48104), home of the Michigan varsity teams, serves as the site of the University of Michigan Tennis Camps. The complex contains eight indoor courts, twelve outdoor courts, spectator seating, training and locker rooms.

Deposit, Fees, and Cancellation

All campers will need tennis shoes with non-marking soles. Running shoes will not be permitted.

Lunch will be served to all campers at the Varsity Tennis Center.

Each camper must have Medical/Health Insurance forms, including a physical exam signed by a doctor and an Emergency Information and Release form signed by a parent or guardian, on file prior to participation. Any illness or injury will be han-dled by the Michigan Tennis Camp First Responders.

Each camper will be covered by the University of Michigan Tennis Camp insur-ance as secondary coverage. Personal health insurance is the primary coverage in the event of illness or injury.

A $100 deposit (which is non-refundable) is required for each session. The balance is due by May 27 (June 30 for High School Camp). Camp fees will not be pro-rated. There will be a fee for on-line registration. A current physical is due with the balance by May 27 (June 30 for High School Camp). No refunds will be issued for cancellations within one week of camp session start date.

Camp EligibilityThis camp is open to any and all participants, and is limited only by age/ grade and number.
