Create a sheltered-water buoy capable of producing
EPA approved water quality measurements
•Low cost, but survivable, buoy structure of easily obtained materials
•Self sufficient on solar power
•Human launchable, and easily transportable
•Dual mode wireless data telecommunications
•Small waterplane cross-section with high stability
•High quality instrumentation

Fill the gap between an ocean capable buoy and
manual sampling for EPA CWA Monitoring
• Useable in hundreds of Florida waterbodies (WBIDs)
•Continuously monitor multiple water quality parameters in sheltered locations (selectable intervals)
•Improved real-time data availability with cell phone alerts
•Captures episodic events missed by manual sampling
•Easily launched, serviced and retrieved by small boat
•Two man launch and pickup truck transportable

Summary
UNF developed water quality buoy fills the need for a low cost sheltered water buoy which can be deployed by two people in a lake, stream or estuary.
Greatly increases data availability over manual sampling and captures episodic events, such as storm data when manual sampling would be unsafe.
Produces EPA quality data in real-time via wireless communication and can be configured for cell phone alerts.
