Research and Innovation at the Department of Agriculture Crop Production and Rural Environment, University of Thessaly School of Agricultural Sciences

The main goal of the Department of Agriculture, Plant Production and Rural Environment is to offer the best possible framework for the development of research initiatives of both faculty members and their research teams, as well as other staff, researchers and PhD candidates. The focus of the research is on agricultural production, sustainable development, the environment, a healthy and stable economy and work. Collaborations and alliances developed with private and other public bodies, with Civil Society institutions and financial opportunities from National Resources and the European Union are constantly reversing the research environment. The Department of Agricultural Plant Production and Rural Environment can demonstrate high success rates in research projects and collaborations and resource absorption of research programs and original research efforts.

Activity Research of the Laboratory of Agricultural Construction and Environmental Control

A very important aspect of the University's research work concerns the participation of academic staff in competitive research programs funded by National Resources and the European Union.

The Laboratory of Agricultural Construction and Environmental Control is one of the 20 Laboratories of the Department of Agriculture, Plant Production and Rural Environment of the University of Thessaly.

With Director-Project Coordinator Prof. Nikolaos Katsoulas, the Laboratory of Agricultural Construction and Environmental Control is participating in 12 research projects funded by National Resources and the European Union. The Laboratory of Agricultural Construction and EC participates in European programs funded under the Horizon 2020, the ERASMUS + Program and

Lifelong Learning (LLP) of the European Commission, ESPA programs 2014-2020: Research-Creative-Innovative, Interreg Programs.

Through its successful participation in competitive European and international programs, it has succeeded in quadrupled its research funding in recent years, improving excellence levels and actively participating in European and global research.

The main research area of the Laboratory of Agricultural Construction and Environmental Control is the use of new technologies and techniques in greenhouses and network greenhouses, renewable energy sources and energy saving in greenhouses. New technologies focus on hydroponics with complete management-recycling of nutrient solution, testing of various cultivated substrates, testing of new insecticide networks, testing of new greenhouse cover materials, other production of hydroponics, hydroponics and fish farming and fish farming. Products.
