CHEERTEAMRULESANDREGULATIONSI. GENERALRULESA. UNIVERSITY/COLLEGETEAMGUIDELINES1. ThecompetitionisopentoallUSAcolleges,

universitiesandjunior/communitycolleges;andallnon-USAuniversitiesandequivalentinstitutions.

2. Teammaynotexceedsixteen(16)memberswiththeexceptionoftheAllGirlandSuperCoedDivisions.AllGirlDivisionsmaynotexceedtwenty(20)femaleteammembers.SuperCoedDivisionsmaynotexceedtwenty-four(24)members.

3. Cross-oversareallowed(onlyappliestotheUniversityWorldCupCheerleadingChampionships)

4. LargeCoedDivisionswillbelimitedtoamaximumnumberofnine(9)maleparticipants.SuperCoedDivisionswillbelimitedtoamaximumnumberofthirteen(13)maleparticipants.

B.PARTICIPATIONGUIDELINES1. AllNon-USAParticipantsmustbecompliantwith

theircountry’sofficialUniversitysportseligibility

requirements,asitpertainstostandarduniversityinternationalcompetition,includingproofofstudentidentificationoftherespectiveeducationalinstitutionrepresentedasrequired.

2. AllUSAparticipantsmustberegisteredfull-timestudentsoftheiruniversity/collegeandofficialmembersoftheschool’sspiritteam(noclubteamor“competitiononly”teams).Officialmember’softheschool’sspiritsquadistheteamrecognizedbytheirinstitutionastheactualsideline/courtsidespiritsquadthatregularlysupportstheirathleticteams.

3. TranscriptsoranotarizedletterfromtheDeanofStudentsorregistrar’sofficeisrequiredforallUSAParticipantsuponregisteringfortheChampionshipforthefallsemester.DOCUMENTATIONOFFULLTIMESTATUSMUSTNOTBEDATEDANYEARLIERTHANDECEMBER1,2017.Teamsviolatingthisrulecouldforfeittheirtitlesandbeprohibitedfromenteringthecompetitionthefollowingyear.

4. EachTeamfromtheUSAmustbeaccompaniedbyacurrentAACCAcertifiedcoachinorderfortheteamtobeeligibletocompete.ProofofcertificationisrequireduponregisteringfortheChampionships.

5. Anyinterpretationsordecisionsofeligibilityforthe2018UniversityWorldCupCheerleadingChampionshipswillberenderedbytheChampionshipsRulesCommittee.TheChampionshipsRulesCommitteewillrenderajudgmentinamannerconsistentwiththegeneralgoalsoftheChampionships.

6. Theteamandeachparticipatingteammember/coachshouldconstantlydisplaygoodsportsmanshipthroughouttheentireperformanceinregardtorespectforthemselves,otherteamsandtheviewingaudienceofallages.Teamsshouldrefrainfromanytaunting,bragging,orsuggestiveexpressionsorgesturesaswellasanydiscriminationofanynature.

7. Werecommendthattheteamandeachofitsmembersdisplayanoverallappearanceconducivetoservicingaspublicrepresentativesandambassadorsoftheirschoolinregardsto

grooming,traditionalandappropriateattire,conservativemake-up,uniformity,etc.

C.ELIGIBILITYGUIDELINES1. AnyUSAuniversityorcollegeteamcompetinginthe

UWCCmustcomplywiththeeligibilityguidelinesofthe2018CollegeCheerleadingandDanceTeamChampionships.

2. Anyinterpretationsordecisionsofeligibilityforthe2018UniversityWorldCupCheerleadingChampionshipswillberenderedbytheChampionshipsRulesCommittee,whichwillconsistoftheTournamentDirector,theCollegeProgramDirectorandoneotherUWCCofficialappointedbytheTournamentDirector.TheChampionshipsRulesCommitteewillrenderajudgmentinamannerconsistentwiththegeneralgoalsofthechampionships.

D.TIMELIMITATIONS1. Eachteam’spresentationmustincludeatleastone

(1)cheerand/orsidelinechant(useofnativelanguageincheerand/orsidelinechantisencouraged).

2. Eachteamwillhaveamaximumof2minutesand30seconds(1minuteand45secondsmaximumofmusic)todemonstrateitscheerleadingexpertise.Timingwillbeginwiththefirstmovement,voiceornoteofmusic;whichevercomesfirst.

3. Ifateamexceedsthetimelimit,apenaltywillbeaccessedforeachviolation.Three(3)pointdeductionfor1-5secondsover,Five(5)pointdeductionfor6-10secondsover,andSeven(7)pointdeductionfor11secondsandover.

4. Theroutinetimelimitis2:30.Acknowledgingthepotentialvariancecausebyhumanreactionseedandsoundsystemtimevariations,judgeswillnotissueadeductionuntiltheirstopwatchesshowatimeof2:33.

5. BECAUSEPENALTIESARESEVERE,ITISRECOMMENDEDTHATALLTEAMSTIMETHEIRPERFORMANCESEVERALTIMESPRIORTOCOMPETITIONANDLEAVEASEVERALSECONDCUSHIONTOALLOWFORVARIATIONSINSOUNDEQUIPMENT.

6. Introductions:a. Allintroductions(tumbling,entrances,chants,

spell-outs,etc.)areconsideredpartoftheroutineandwillbetimedaspartoftheperformance.

b. Allteambreaks,ritualsandtraditionsneedtotakeplacepriortoenteringtheperformancesurface.

c. Teamsshouldtakethefloorimmediatelywithspiritandenthusiasm,butwithoutexcessive

gestures.Examples:Chestbumps,hugs,handshakes,etc.

d. Allteamsshallrefrainfromanytypeofexcessivecelebrationfollowingtheteam’sperformance.AnyteaminviolationwillreceiveaONE(1)pointdeduction.

e. Thereshouldnotbeanyorganizedexistsorotheractivitiesaftertheofficialendingoftheroutine.

E.MUSIC1. Forthe2018UWCC,allUSAteamsmustfollow

theUSANationalGoverningBody“USACheer”guidelines(www.usacheer.net)andallnon-USAteamswillhavethechoiceofthe“USACheer”guidelines(www.usacheer.net)orICU(www.cheerunion.org)MusicCopyrightsEducationalInitiative.

2. WithincomplianceofE.1,IhavereadandunderstandtheUSACheerMusicorICUCopyrightsEducationalInitiativeandallsoundrecordingsusedinourteam’smusicshallonlybeusedwithwrittenlicensefromtheowners(s)ofthesoundrecordings.

3. Teamsmustbeabletoprovideproofoflicensingduringregistrationattheeventtheyareattending.Ifateamdoesnothaveproofofmusiclicensingavailable,theywillbeallowedtoperformtoanoptionalapprovedtrackofmusicoratrackwithcounts(providedbyUWCC).

4. Ifateamcannotprovideproofoflicensing,anddonotperformtoanoptionalapprovedtrackofmusicortocounts,theteamwillbedisqualifiedfromthecompetition.

5. Ifthereareconcernsregardingacertainteam’suseofmusic,aChallengeFormmustbecompletedimmediatelyfollowingtheteam’sperformance.

6. Achallengecanonlybemadebytheofficialcoachofateamcompetingattheeventatwherethechallengeisbeingmade.

7. ChallengeProcess:a. Allmusicchallengesmustbesubmittedin

writingtotheeventdirector.b. Therewillbe$100USDfeetorequestamusic

challengeandmustbeintheformofacheckmadeouttoSt.JudeChildren’sResearchHospital.

c. Feescollectedwillbevoidedifchallengeiscorrect.

d. Iftheteamchallengedcanprovidedocumentationduringtheeventorthechallengecanberefuted,thefeeswillbedonatedtoSt.Jude.

e. Iftheteamchallengedcanprovidedocumentationthatrequiresfurtherreview,adecisionwillbefinalizedwithin48hoursoftheevent.

8. Eachteamisrequiredtohavearesponsibleadultremainatthemusicstationthatknowstheroutineandmusic.Thisrepresentativeisresponsibleforstartingthemusicandstoppingthemusicincaseoftechnicalmalfunctionorinjury.Pleasemakesurethatalldevicesarefullycharged,volumeturnedupandplacedinairplanemode.IfusingCDs,pleasemakesuretheCDisunscratchedtopreventamusicmalfunctionwhileinplay.

9. TeamsmaynotuseDisneythemesnormaytheyhavecostumesthatresembleaDisneycharacter.However,Disneymusicisacceptableiffollowingthemusicguidelines.

F.COMPETITIONAREA1. Participantsmuststartinthecompetitionareawith

atleastonefootontheground.2. Teamsmaylineupanywhereinsidethecompetition

area.3. Theperformancefloorwillbeapproximately42feet

x54feet/12.8metersx16.5meters.4. ThesurfacewillbetraditionalfoamCheerleading

mat.5. Anyteammembersteppingoutsidetheperformance

areawillcausetheteamtoreceiveapoint-five(.5)penaltyperoccurrence.a. Thewhitelineisconsideredthewarningmark.b. ApenaltywillbeassessedwhenanyONEfull

hand,footorbodyparttouchesoutsidetheperformancesurface.

6. Signsorpropsmaybeplacedoutsideofthecompetitionareabyateammember,buttheteammembermustremaininsidethecompetitionarea.Ifasignorpropisthrownoutsidethecompetitionarea,theteamwillreceiveaone(1)pointdeductionforeachviolation.

7. Allteammascots,props,centermarkets,etc.areprohibited.Thecenterofallperformancesurfaceswillbemarkedthroughoutthecompetition.

G. SPOTTERPOLICYInanefforttopromoteahigherlevelofsafetyforcompetitionathletes,UWCCwillprovideadditionalspottersforallrehearsalandcompetitionfloors.Note:Toprovidethesafestcompetitiveenvironment,teamsshouldnotattemptskillsbeyondtheirabilitylevel.H.LOGOUSAGETeamswillnotbeallowedtousetheUWCClogoincluding:banners,rings,bows,t-shirts,etc.without

priorapprovalfromtheUWCCoffice.TheuseoftheUWCCletterswillbeallowed.

II.INTERRUPTIONOFPERFORMANCEA. UNFORSEENCIRCUMSTANCES1.If,intheopinionofthecompetitionofficials,a

team’sroutineisinterruptedbecauseoffailureofthecompetitionequipment,facilities,orotherfactorsattributabletothecompetitionratherthantheteam,theteamaffectedshouldSTOPtheroutine.

2. Theteamwillperformtheroutineagaininitsentirety,butwillbeevaluatedONLYfromthepointwheretheinterruptionoccurred.Thedegreeandeffectoftheinterruptionwillbedeterminedbythecompetitionofficials.

B. FAULTOFTEAM1. Intheeventateam’sroutineisinterrupted

becauseoffailureoftheteam’sownequipment,theteammusteithercontinuetheroutineorwithdrawfromthecompetition.

2. Thecompetitionofficialswilldetermineiftheteamwillbeallowedtoperformatalatertime.Ifdecidedbyofficials,theteamwillperformtheroutineagaininitsentirety,butwillbeevaluatedONLYfromthepointwheretheinterruptionoccurred.

C.INJURY1. Theonlypersonsthatmaystoparoutinefor

injuryare:a)competitionofficials,b)theadvisor/coachfromtheteamperformingorc)aninjuredindividual.

2. Thecompetitionofficialswilldetermineiftheteamwillbeallowedtoperformatalatertime.Ifthecompetitionofficialsallowaroutinetobeperformedatalatertime,thespotintheschedulewherethere-performanceistotakeplaceisatthesolediscretionofcompetitionofficials.Theteammayperformtheroutineagaininitsentirety,butwillbeevaluatedONLYfromthepointwheretheinterruptionoccurred.

3. Theinjuredparticipantthatwishestoperformmaynotreturntothecompetitionfloorunless:a. Thecompetitionofficialsreceiveclearance

from,first,themedicalpersonnelattendingtothatparticipant,theparent(ifpresent)ANDTHENtheheadcoach/advisorofthecompetingteam.

b. Ifthemedicalpersonneldonotcleartheparticipant,theparticipantcanonlyreturntothecompetitionifaparentorlegalguardian

inattendancesignsareturntoparticipationwaiver.

c. Anyathletewhoexhibitssignsorsymptomsconsistentwithconcussionshouldberemovedfromtheactivityatthattimeandshouldnotbeallowedtoreturntoactivityonthatdayandasubsequentdayuntilevaluatedbyandreceiveswrittenclearanceforsuchparticipationfromaqualifiedphysician(MDorDOspecificallytrainedinconcussionmanagement).

d. InadditiontotheUWCCheadinjurypolicy,weencourageallstakeholderstobefamiliarwiththespecificlaw(s)ofthestatewherethecompetitionisbeingheld.

III.HOWTOHANDLEPROCEDURALQUESTIONS

A. RULES&PROCEDURESAnyquestionsconcerningtherulesorproceduresofthecompetitionwillbehandledexclusivelybythedirector/coachoftheteamandwillbedirectedtotheCompetitionDirector.Suchquestionsshouldbemadepriortotheteam’scompetitionperformance.

B. PERFORMANCE

Anyquestionsconcerningtheteam’sperformanceshouldbemadetotheCompetitionDirectorimmediatelyaftertheteam’sperformanceand/orfollowingtheoutcomeofthecompetition.

IV.INTERPRETATIONSAND/ORRULINGSAnyinterpretationofanyaspectoftheseRulesandRegulationsoranydecisioninvolvinganyotheraspectofthecompetitionwillberenderedbytheRulesCommittee.TheRulesCommitteewillrenderajudgmentinanefforttoensurethatthecompetitionproceedsinamannerconsistentwiththegeneralspiritandgoalsofthecompetition.TheRulesCommitteewillconsistoftheCompetitionDirector,HeadJudge,andadesignatedcompetitionofficial.

V.SPORTSMANSHIPAllparticipantsagreetoconductthemselvesinamannerdisplayinggoodsportsmanshipthroughoutthecompetitionwithpositivepresentationuponentryandexitfromtheperformanceareaaswellasthroughouttheroutine.Theadvisorandcoachofeachteamisresponsibleforseeingthatteammembers,coaches,parentsandotherpersonsaffiliatedwiththeteamconductthemselvesaccordingly.Severecasesofunsportsmanlikeconductaregroundsfordisqualification.

VI.EVENTRULESVIOLATIONSAnyteaminviolationoftheseRulesandRegulationsoranyoftheabovementionedguidelineswillbeassessedaten(10)pointdeductionforeachviolation.Thisdeductiondoesnotapplytoviolationsmentionedabovethataredesignatedalesserpointvalue.VII.DISQUALIFICATIONAnyteamthatdoesnotadheretothetermsandproceduresofthese“RulesandRegulations”willbesubjecttodisqualificationfromthecompetition,willautomaticallyforfeitanyrighttoanyprizesorawardspresentedbythecompetition,andmayalsoforfeittheopportunitytoparticipatethefollowingyear.VIII.FINALITYOFDECISIONSByparticipatinginthischampionship,eachteamagreesthedecisionbythejudgeswillbefinalandthattheresultsmayONLYbereviewedforclarification.Eachteamacknowledgesthenecessityforthejudgestomakepromptandfairdecisionsinthiscompetitionandeachteamthereforeexpresslywaivesanylegal,equitable,administrativeorproceduralreviewofsuchdecisions.

IX.SCORESANDRANKINGSIndividualscoresheetsarefortheexclusiveuseofeachparticularjudge.Eachjudgehastheresponsibilityandauthoritytoreviewandsubmithisorherfinalscoresandrankingspriortothefinaltallyofthescoreforallteams.Scoresandrankingswillbeavailableonlytoadvisorsorcoachesattheconclusionofthecompetition.

X.AWARDSANDPRIZESAllteamsinthefinalroundofcompetitionwillreceiveatrophy.Teamswhorankfirst(1st),second(2nd),orthird(3rd)placewilladditionallyreceiveagold,silver,orbronzemedallion.

XI.JUDGINGPROCEDURESThejudgesfortheeventwillbeappointedatthesolediscretionoftheUniversityWorldCupCheerleadingChampionships(UWCC).Thejudgeswillscoreeachteamaccordingtothejudgingcriteriatodeterminetheirtotalscore.Eachteamwillautomaticallyreceivethe“crowdsegment”full15pointsofthetotalscore.Thejudges’scoreswillbeaveragedtogetherwithdeductionsbeingtakenofftheaveragedscores.Intheeventofafirstplacetie,the

tiewillbebrokenbycarryingthedecimalplacesoutforthetotalscore.Ifatieremains,therankingpointsfromeachjudgewillbeusedtobreakthetie.XII.JUDGINGCRITERIA1. Therewillbe2panelsofjudgestoscoreeachteam’s

routine.Thetwoscoresheetswillequaloutto50pointsgoingtowardtheteam’scheerandpracticalityscore(35onthesheetand15fromthecrowdtapeawardedautomaticallytoallUWCCteams)and50pointsforthemusicportionoftheroutine.

2. Onepanelwillbeusingascoresheetofwhichwillfocusonthecheer/sidelineoftheroutine.Itwillinvolvepracticality,incorporation,useofsigns,pomsormegaphones;whilealsotakingintoconsiderationtheoverallcheerexecutionthatisused.

3. Theotherjudgingpanelwillbeusingascoresheetspecifictothemusicportionoftheroutine.Thiswillinvolvemoreofthecreativeanddifficultskillsattemptedwhilelookingattheoveralleffectandcrowdappealplustheentertainmentvalueofthisportionoftheroutine.

4. Deductionswillbeassessedtoeachteamforerrorsinroutineperformance.

XIII.GENERALGUIDELINES-“UNIVERSITYPREMIER”AND“UNIVERSITYELITE”DIVISIONSA. DEFINITIONS1. Base:Apersonwhoisindirectcontactwiththe

performingsurfaceandissupportinganotherperson’sweight.

2. Cradle:Dismountfromastunt/pyramid/tossinwhichthetoppersonlandsinaface-up,semi-pikedposition.

3. Cupie/Awesome:Astuntinwhichbothofthetopperson’sfeetareinonehandofthebase.

4. DiveRoll:Anaerialforwardrollwherethefeetoftheperformerareatorabovetheperformer’swaistpriortothehandsmakingcontactwiththeperformancesurface.

5. Flatback:Astuntinwhichthetoppersonisinaface-up,straight-bodypositionparalleltotheperformingsurface.

6. Flip:Whenapersonisairbornewhilethefeetpassoverthehead.(Clarification:Abraced-flipiswhenatoppersonperformsahip-over-headrotationwhileinconstantcontactwithanothertopperson(s).)

7. Height-increasingApparatus:Anytypeofequipmentthatincreasestheheightoftheskill.

8. HelicopterToss:Astuntinwhichthetoppersonistossedintotheairwiththebodyparalleltothegroundandcompletesa360degreehorizontalrotation(likethebladesofahelicopter).

9. Loadingposition:Anyintermediatepositionbelowshoulderlevelthatusescontinuousmotiontoputatoppersoninastuntorpyramid.Examples:Elevator/spongeload,basketload,smoosh,scoopfromtheback,etc.

5. Skillsthathavenotbeenmasteredshouldbeperformedonlyinasupervisedpracticeenvironment.

B. SundaywillhosttheUniversityWorldCupCheerleadingChampionships(UWCC)comprisingofUnitedStatesteams(divisionsmentionedpreviously)andnon-USAteams.CrossoversfortheUWCCandwithintheUWCConlywillbeallowed.AwardsforNationsrankingsandindividualteamresultswillbepresented.(SundayalsohostsseveraldivisionalfinalsoftheUSNationalChampionships.)

II.ELIGIBILITYGUIDELINES1. AllNon-USAParticipantsmustbecompliantwith

theircountry’sofficialUniversitysportseligibilityrequirements,asitpertainstostandarduniversityinternationalcompetition,includingproofofstudentidentificationoftherespectiveeducationalinstitutionrepresentedasrequired.

2. AllUSAParticipantsofuniversityorcollegeteamscompetingintheUWCCmustcomplywiththeeligibilityguidelinesofthe2018CollegeCheerleadingandDanceTeamChampionships.

3. Anyinterpretationsordecisionsofeligibilityforthe2018UniversityWorldCupCheerleadingChampionshipswillberenderedbytheChampionshipsRulesCommittee,whichwillconsistoftheTournamentDirector,theCollegeProgramDirectorandoneotherUWCCofficialappointedbytheTournamentDirector.TheChampionshipsRulesCommitteewillrenderajudgmentinamannerconsistentwiththegeneralgoalsofthechampionships.

III.JUDGINGPROCEDURESThejudgesfortheeventwillbeappointedatthesolediscretionoftheUniversityWorldCupCheerleadingChampionships(UWCC).Thejudgeswillscoreeachteamaccordingtothejudgingcriteria,usinga100pointsystemtodetermineeachteam’stotalscore.Eachteamwillautomaticallyreceivethe“crowdsegment”scoreafull15pointsadditional.Thejudges’scoreswillbeaveragedtogetherwithdeductionsbeingtakenofftheaveragescores.Intheeventofafirstplacetie,thetiewillbebrokenbycarryingthedecimalplacesoutforthetotalscore.Ifatieremains,therankingpointsfromeachjudgewillbeusedtobreakthetie.

IV.SCORESANDRANKINGSIndividualscoresheetsarefortheexclusiveuseofeachparticularjudge.Eachjudgehastheresponsibilityandauthoritytoreviewandsubmithisorherfinalscoresandrankingspriortothefinaltallyofthescoreforallteams.Noscoresandrankingswillbeprovidedoverthetelephone.Aftereachroundofcompetition,teamswillreceivethejudges’scoresheetsaswellastheirscoreandthetopscorewithinthegroup.Inaddition,teamswillreceivearankingsheetwiththenamesandscoresofallteamsadvancing(ifapplicable).

V.HOWTOHANDLEPROCEDURALQUESTIONSA. RULES&PROCEDURES

Anyquestionsconcerningtherulesorproceduresofthecompetitionwillbehandledexclusivelybythedirector/coachoftheteamandwillbedirectedtotheCompetitionDirector.Suchquestionsshouldbemadepriortotheteam’scompetitionperformance.

B. PERFORMANCEAnyquestionsconcerningtheteam’sperformanceshouldbemadetotheCompetitionDirectorimmediatelyaftertheteam’sperformanceand/orfollowingtheoutcomeofthecompetition.

VI.SPORTSMANSHIPAllparticipantsagreetoconductthemselvesinamannerdisplayinggoodsportsmanshipthroughoutthecompetitionwithpositivepresentationuponentryandexitfromtheperformanceareaaswellasthroughouttheroutine.Theadvisorandcoachofeachteamisresponsibleforseeingthatteammembers,coaches,parentsandotherpersonsaffiliatedwiththeteamconductthemselvesaccordingly.Severecasesofunsportsmanlikeconductaregroundsfordisqualification.VII.INTERRUPTIONOFPERFORMANCEA. UNFORSEENCIRCUMSTANCES1.If,intheopinionofthecompetitionofficials,ateam’s

routineisinterruptedbecauseoffailureofthecompetitionequipment,facilities,orotherfactorsattributabletothecompetitionratherthantheteam,theteamaffectedshouldSTOPtheroutine.

2. Theteamwillperformtheroutineagaininitsentirety,butwillbeevaluatedONLYfromthepointwheretheinterruptionoccurred.Thedegreeandeffectoftheinterruptionwillbedeterminedbythecompetitionofficials.

B. FAULTOFTEAM1. Intheeventateam’sroutineisinterrupted

becauseoffailureoftheteam’sownequipment,theteammusteithercontinuetheroutineorwithdrawfromthecompetition.

2. Thecompetitionofficialswilldetermineiftheteamwillbeallowedtoperformatalatertime.Ifdecidedbyofficials,theteamwillperformtheroutineagaininitsentirety,butwillbeevaluatedONLYfromthepointwheretheinterruptionoccurred.

C. INJURY1. Theonlypersonsthatmaystoparoutinefor

injuryare:a)competitionofficials,b)theadvisor/coachfromtheteamperformingorc)aninjuredindividual.

2. Thecompetitionofficialswilldetermineiftheteamwillbeallowedtoperformatalatertime.Ifthecompetitionofficialsallowaroutinetobeperformedatalatertime,thespotintheschedulewherethere-performanceistotakeplaceisatthesolediscretionofcompetitionofficials.Theteammayperformtheroutineagaininitsentirety,butwillbeevaluatedONLYfromthepointwheretheinterruptionoccurred.

3. Theinjuredparticipantthatwishestoperformmaynotreturntothecompetitionfloorunless:a. Thecompetitionofficialsreceiveclearance

from,first,themedicalpersonnelattendingtothatparticipant,theparent(ifpresent)ANDTHENtheheadcoach/advisorofthecompetingteam.

b. Ifthemedicalpersonneldonotcleartheparticipant,theparticipantcanonlyreturntothecompetitionifaparentorlegalguardianinattendancesignsareturntoparticipationwaiver.

c. Anyathletewhoexhibitssignsorsymptomsconsistentwithconcussionshouldberemovedfromtheactivityatthattimeandshouldnotbeallowedtoreturntoactivityonthatdayorasubsequentdayuntilevaluatedbyandreceiveswrittenclearanceforsuchparticipationfromaqualifiedphysician(MDorDOspecificallytrainedinconcussionmanagement).

d. InadditiontotheUWCCheadinjurypolicy,weencourageallstakeholderstobefamiliarwiththespecificlaw(s)ofthestatewherethecompetitionisbeingheld.

VIII.INTERPRETATIONSAND/ORRULINGSAnyinterpretationofanyaspectoftheseRulesandRegulationsoranydecisioninvolvinganyotheraspectofthecompetitionwillberenderedbytheRulesCommittee.TheRulesCommitteewillrenderjudgmentinanefforttoensurethatthecompetitionproceedsinamannerconsistentwiththegeneralspiritandgoalsofthecompetition.TheRulesCommitteewillconsistoftheCompetitionDirector,HeadJudge,andadesignatedcompetitionofficial.IX.DISQUALIFICATIONAnyteamthatdoesnotadheretothetermsandproceduresofthese“RulesandRegulations”willbesubjecttodisqualificationfromthecompetition,willautomaticallyforfeitanyrighttoanyprizesorawardspresentedbythecompetitionandmayalsoforfeittheopportunitytoparticipatethefollowingyear.X.FINALITYOFDECISIONSByparticipatinginthischampionship,eachteamagreesthatthedecisionbythejudgeswillbefinalandwillnotbesubjectforreview.Eachteamacknowledgesthenecessityforthejudgestomakepromptandfairdecisionsinthiscompetitionandeachteamthereforeexpresslywaivesanylegal,equitable,administrativeorproceduralreviewofsuchdecisions.XI.UNIVERSITYWORLDCUPCHEERLEADINGCHAMPIONSHIPSPARTICIPATIONItisunderstoodthatteamsparticipatingintheUniversityWorldCupCheerleadingChampionships(UWCC)willnotknowinglyandwillinglyparticipateinanyothereventpromotedasa“UniversityWorldCupCheerleadingChampionships”.(Exception:Approvedmulti-sportinternationaleventscongruentwiththeUniversityWorldCupCheerleadingChampionshipsandInternationalSportAuthorityorganizations).Teamswhodonotadherewillbedisqualifiedforthe2018WorldUniversityCheerleadingCupChampionshipsandwillforfeittheopportunitytoparticipateinthetournamentthefollowingyear.XII.TOURNAMENTFACILITY1. XVII.COMPETITIONROUTINEGUIDELINES1. Substitutionsmaybemadeintheeventofaninjury

orotherseriouscircumstance.Substitutesmustalsoabidebytheagerestrictionsinalldivisionsinwhichtheycompete.

2. FormalentranceswhichinvolvePerformanceCheer,technicalskills,andalltraditions/chantsarenotpermitted.Athletesshouldentertheperformanceareainatimelyfashion.

3. Allstaging,backdrops,specialeffects,oranyitemsthatmaydamageorotherwisealtertheperformancefloororenvironmentareprohibited(water,powder,glitter,fire,slidingoil,etc.).

4. Teamsmayperformoffoftheperformancefloor;however,allroutinechoreographyfortheentireteammustbeginandendontheperformancesurface.Jumpingonorofftheperformancesurfaceisprohibited.

5. Timelimitisasfollows:Teamswillhaveamaximumof(2)twominutestodemonstratetheirstyleandexpertise.Ifateamexceedsthetimelimit,theteamwillbeassessedapenalty:a(2)twopointdeductionfor3(three)ofmoresecondsoverthetimelimit.

6. Timingwillbeginwiththefirstchoreographedmovementornoteofmusic,whicheverisfirst.Timingwillendwiththelastchoreographedmovementornoteofmusic,whicheverislast.

7. Allteammascots,props,centermarkers,etc.areprohibited.Allperformancesurfaceswillhaveacentermarkerthroughoutthecompetition.

XVIII.MUSICGUIDELINES1. Forthe2018UWCC,allUSAteamsmustfollow

theUSANationalGoverningBody“USACheer”guidelines(www.usacheer.net)andallnon-USAteamswillhavethechoiceofthe“USACheer”guidelines(www.usacheer.net)orICU(www.cheerunion.org)MusicCopyrightsEducationalInitiative.

2. IncompliancewithE.1,IhavereadandunderstandtheUSACheerMusicorICUCopyrightsEducationalInitiativeandallsoundrecordingsusedinourteam’smusicshallonlybeusedwithwrittenlicensefromtheowners(s)ofthesoundrecordings.

3. Teamsmustbeabletoprovideproofoflicensingduringregistrationattheeventtheyareattending.Ifateamdoesnothaveproofofmusiclicensingavailable,theywillbeallowedtoperformtoanoptionalapprovedtrackofmusicoratrackwithcounts(providedbyUWCC).

4. Ifateamcannotprovideproofoflicensing,anddonotperformtoanoptionalapprovedtrackofmusicortocounts,theteamwillbedisqualifiedfromthecompetition.

5. Ifthereareconcernsregardingacertainteam’suseofmusic,aChallengeFormmustbecompletedimmediatelyfollowingtheteam’sperformance.

6. Achallengecanonlybemadebytheofficialcoachofateamcompetingattheeventatwherethechallengeisbeingmade.

7. ChallengeProcess:a. Allmusicchallengesmustbesubmittedin

writingtotheeventdirector.b. Therewillbe$100USDfeetorequestamusic

challengeandmustbeintheformofacheckmadeouttoStJudeChildren’sResearchHospital.

c. Feescollectedwillbevoidedifchallengeiscorrect.

d. Iftheteamchallengedcanprovidedocumentationduringtheeventorbeverified,thefeeswillbedonatedtoSt.Jude.

e. Iftheteamchallengedcanprovidedocumentationthatrequiresfurtherreview,adecisionwillbefinalizedwithin48hoursoftheevent.

8. Eachteamisrequiredtohavearesponsibleadultremainatthemusicstationthatknowstheroutineandmusic.Thisrepresentativeisresponsibleforstartingthemusicandstoppingthemusicincaseoftechnicalmalfunctionor

9. TeamsmaynotuseDisneythemesnormaytheyhavecostumesthatresembleaDisneycharacter.However,Disneymusicisacceptableiffollowingthemusicguidelines.

XIX.CHOREOGRAPHYANDCOSTUMING1. Routinechoreographyshouldbeappropriateand

entertainingforallaudiencemembers.Vulgarorsuggestivematerial,choreographyand/ormusicisnotallowedandisdefinedasanymovementorchoreographyimplyingsomethingimproperorindecent,appearingoffensiveorsexualincontent,and/orrelayinglewdofprofanegesturesorimplications.Inappropriatechoreography,costuming,makeupand/ormusicmayaffectthejudges’overallimpressionand/orscoreoftheroutine.

2. Shoes,onbothfeet,mustbewornduringthecompetition.Dancepawsareacceptable.Shoeswithwheelsarenotallowed(Example:rollerskates,rollerblades,heelys,etc.).Wearingsocksand/orfootedtightsonlyisnotallowed.

3. Allmaledancers’costumesmustincludeashirtthatisfastened,howeveritcanbesleeveless.

4. Jewelryaspartofthecostumeisallowed.

XX.PROPSPropsareallowed,however,theymustfitthrougha36inch/.914meterdoor.Propsmustbehandheldandcannotbeusedtobeartheweightoftheathlete.AnypropsusedmustfirstbeapprovedthroughtheUWCCOffice.Forapproval,[email protected].

XXI.TEAMPARTICIPANTSTeamswhoparticipateinthecompetitionwillhavetheopportunitytocompeteintwoteamcategories.

XXII.CATEGORIES• POM-Pomsarerequiredtobeusedthroughoutthe

routine.Importantcharacteristicsofapomroutineincludesynchronizationandvisualeffects,alongwithproperpomplacementandperformancecheerskilltechnique.Motionsshouldbeverysharp,cleanandprecise.Yourteamshouldbesynchronizedandappearas“one”.Aroutinethatisvisuallyeffectiveisextremelyimportant,includinglevelchanges,groupwork,formationchanges,etc.Pomroutinesfollowa

more“traditional”theme-pleaseseethescoresheetformoreinformation.

• HIPHOP–Incorporatesstreetstyleinfluencedmovementsandrhythmswithanemphasisonexecution,style,creativity,bodyisolationsandcontrol,rhythm,uniformityandmusicalinterpretation.Theuniformityofallmovementthroughouttheperformanceshouldcomplementthebeatsandrhythmofthemusic.Thereisalsoanadditionalfocusonincorporationssuchasjumps,jumpvariations,combojumps,freezesandfloorworkandotherskills.DistinctiveclothingandaccessoriesreflectingHipHopCulturemustbeworn.Seethescoresheetformoreinformation.

• OPEN-Incorporatesandexhibitstraditionalor

stylizedmovementsandcombinationswithstrength,attackandpresence,formationchanges,groupwork,visualeffectandtechnicalelements.Anemphasisisplacedonpropertechnicalexecution,extension,control,bodyplacement,style,musicalinterpretation,continuityofmovementandteamuniformity.Theoverallimpressionoftheroutineshouldbeuptempo,lively,energeticandmotivating,whileallowingfortextureofmovementtoutilizemusicality.SeeScoreSheetformoreinformation.

3. SwingingliftsandtricksareallowedprovidedtheExecutingAthlete’sbodydoesnotmakeacompletecircularrotationandisinasupinepositionatalltimes.Swinginginapronepositionisnotallowed(backwardsandforwardsoracompletecircularrotation).

4. Hipover-headrotationoftheExecutingAthlete(s)mayoccuraslongasaSupportingAthletemaintainscontactuntiltheExecutingAthletereturnstotheperformancesurfaceorisreturningtotheuprightposition.
