Unlock the Magic

n behalf of the Board of Directors of the St. Louis Learning Disabilities Association, Inc., I would like towelcome you to LDA’s annual fundraiser at Grant’s Farm. Our theme for this magical evening, Unlock

the Magic of Learning, is a reflection of the mission of LDA—it is our goal to unlock the magic of learning forevery child by providing education, support, and hope.

Without assistance from an organization like LDA, children with learning disabilities often miss the wonder andmagic of learning. Within the last year, the number of children, families, and professionals requesting help fromLDA has continued to increase dramatically. As a result, the early childhood program continues to thrive and meet the needs in the community. Tonight, through your support and generosity, you are providing the key to unlocking the magic of learning for thousands of children with learning and attentional disabilities throughout the St. Louis area.

Sincere thanks and special acknowledgment go to Billy and Christi Busch for hosting this wonderful event atGrant’s Farm! They have not only provided us with the beautiful setting for this evening but also serve as honorarychairs and sponsors for the event. It is also with heartfelt gratitude that I recognize Centene Corporation, ourEvent Sponsor for a fourth consecutive year, for their considerable investment into the lives of thousands of St. Louis children with learning difficulties. I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to our donors fortheir partnership and support of this event. A big thank you goes to the Unlock the Magic of LearningCommittee for the time and talent that was utilized to make this event happen.

I also would like to take this opportunity to thank Pam Kortum, LDA’s Executive Director, and the staff of LDAfor their untiring dedication, efforts, and professionalism. They have worked countless hours to make this eventhappen, while still fulfilling their daily responsibilities. The staff makes a difference in the lives of children every day and LDA is proud to be represented by such outstanding professionals.

Again, thank you for attending this event and supporting children in our community. On behalf of over 13,075children, parents, and professionals who were helped by LDA so far this year, we wish you a fun-filled, magicalevening!

LDA apologizes in advance for any incorrect information or spelling in this booklet.

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of St. Louis LDA’s Vice President, Christine Ivcich. Christine joined the LDA board in 2005and from the beginning of her tenure with us, took an active interest inhelping others. From the first time we met, it was clear that Christine possessed an intense passion to help not only children with learning disabilities, but also their families. From personal experience, she understood the pain, frustration, and feeling of isolation that so many individuals with learning disabilities andtheir families experience and wanted to ensure that no other family would have to endurethose feelings without support. In the beginning of her service, she frequently commentedon the energy and passion that were evident on a daily basis at LDA and was not sure shecould “keep up with all of this energy.” But, within weeks, she became part of the energyand passion that are evident every day at LDA. Christine eagerly took on the role of VicePresident, served on the Board Governance Committee, led the charge for the AdvisoryCouncil, and helped with special events. Whenever someone needed something, Christinewas there to help. Her passion, love, and caring will forever be remembered at LDA, andshe will be deeply missed.

— Sheryl Silvey, LDA Board President

We lovingly remember. . .
