The local situation As representatives of NGOs with working experience on local and international level we want to bring closer 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to people in Krasnoyarsk, Chisinau and Sumy. And make it through international cooperation. There is a need to develop “global thinking”, “global responsibility” for our societies (as specific of our countries does not say a lot about our role in world challenges and need for engagement). That is why we want to empower locals with knowledge about SDGs and thereby support their inclusion into global campaign for their achievement. Our approach In our project we aimed mainly at young people, because they are the trigger for future development. As a result we wanted them to act as multipliers within their schools or universities. The project became an opportunity to inform people in our cities about the Global SGDs campaign. Through 3 educational meetings in 3 countries we raised the awareness and motivate people to join the UN SDGs movement even at personal level. Who made it happen? Project coordinators are representatives of NGO sector from Ukraine, Moldova and Russia with experience in the field of civic education on local and international level. Target group: youth - school and university students, as multipliers for broader dissemination of results. The project became a positive case of collaboration among Russian, Moldovan and Ukrainian NGOs. Target group was also good because youth is always the most flexible, open to new ideas and ready to innovate.
Keys to success We would say that this project had success not only in raising awareness about global issues but also creates co-dependence between a young person's actions and the impact it brings on the global level. This kind of projects make people realise that they don't live in enclosed space and every decision/action has effect on global scale.
