Alternately, many people utilize design skills as part of another role within their company. UNLV Continuing Education’s Print and Graphic Design Certificates classes meet just one evening per week. There is no limit on the number of courses you can take each semester, giving you flexibility to complete your certificate at your own pace. Students are welcome to enroll in courses without the intention of completing a certificate. Graphic Design CertificateStudents following the graphic design track master more advanced design theory and execute more technically demanding projects. To earn a Graphic Design Certificate, take the following six required courses and complete a minimum of 0.6 CEUs of electives.

Earning Your CertificatePrint Design CertificateStudents pursuing a certificate in print design build proficiency in the core print design software tools used in the commercial printing and graphic design industry. Study the essential concepts of print design and the Adobe applications designers use to complete their projects. To earn the Print Design Certificate students must successfully complete four required courses. The capstone must be taken last.

Adobe Illustrator–Level IAdobe Photoshop–Level IAdobe InDesign–Level IPrint Design Capstone: From Pre-Press to Production

Elective Courses:Electives give graphic design students the opportunity to focus their design and skills within an area of interest. The following courses are currently approved as electives for the Graphic Design Certificate:

• Introduction to Composition & Color (AR1220)

• Cascading Style Sheets (WM8169)

• Introduction to Content Management (WM8172)

• HTML Level I (WM8105)

Preparing your Portfolio:An eye-catching portfolio can be the deciding factor in landing a design job. Whether you are interviewing for a position at a company or pitching your services to a client, your work will be scrutinized on both its artistic and technical merit. The print and graphic design capstone courses let designers showcase their creative vision and technical design skills in an integrated multi-media portfolio project.
