USING A 3D ENGINE

UNITY MAP

When fi rst using the Unity engine I thought it was very simple to use when building a terrain and was straight forward when adding textures to the terrain to give an interpretation to the colour of rocks and grass, I only found diffi culties when trying to add animations to the terrain which involved in making long scripts with the codes entered into the them to allow the animations to work. But overall I think if given enough time using the unity engine I think I could make an above average world but with the amount of time I was given with the engine that would not be the case, but I would recommend using this again.

UNREAL MAP

When I fi rst started using the Unreal engine I was very confused as there were many tools that were needed to design a terrain and even more tools to actually add textures to the terrain which I still was unable to add textures as I had no guidance what so ever, so the only I could do was build up the terrain add more detail to the terrain itself. I tried looking through the tutorial videos but they didn’t really fully explain how to make map on Unreal to substantially good standard which left me unimpressed, but I worked with what little I was able to learn and continued making the map. So overall if I was given more guidance through the unreal engine and the tools within it then I would have a better impression of weather to use it again or not so because of that I would rather use the unity engine.
