GenreWe are going to be presenting a psychological teen drama. We are going to use a male teenage protagonist which is a common convention of this genre. There is going to be conflict between the protagonist and on older character, which is a common convention of this genre also. This may be between a parental figure, or an educational role model.

NarrativeA young outcast male, who can’t explain why no one will acknowledge him, discovers that in reality he died from a recent car crash. He figures out he must resolve issues from his past life in order to move on. The picture in this bottom right corner is the male protagonist from Perks of Being a Wallflower, he is going to have similar character traits to our protagonist as he is “invisible”,showing us that he is an outsider.

IconographyThe iconography for our film trailer will includes objects such as ; mirrors, car crashes and public schools. This shows the key features of our trailer, and reflects our psychological hybrid genre. The use of lighting will progress from light as the storyline takes shape and the character becomes more and more aware of the situation.

StyleWe are going to be using high brightness shots in order to give the audience a sense that this film has sad elements. These type of shots connote a heavenly atmosphere, which will give our viewer an impression that the protagonist may or may not be living. These type of shots can also be found in If I Stay (2015), a popular new teen drama with a similar concept.

SettingOur trailer will predominantly be set in a typical college. The film also contains family life problems, so we will use a home setting to show this. Our trailer will include shots of the suburban town which our protagonist spends most of his time in.

ThemesAs our film is a psychological teen drama, it will contain themes of self doubt, teenage life, family problems and an element of unrequited love and bullying. Without him realising, our protagonist will be invisible to everyone else. This is because of an accident which he went through previously a month before. Life and death are large themes of this film as it is a story which takes place after the protagonists death.
