A Message from Pastor Jacquie Upcoming Events “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some

rest.” (Mark6:31)

Many times after a long day of ministry, Jesus would invite his disciples to

go with him to a solitary place, not only for physical rest but also for soul

renewal.

Likewise, the season of Lent calls us to set apart time to do some spiritual

inventory, self-denial, and fasting. Through the spiritual inventory we are

able to find out what are the things, situations, attitudes, or even people

who are keeping us from a closer walk with Jesus. Then we know what to

fast from. Doing this takes intentionality because the things of the world

are always pulling us away from our commitment to God.

In the midst of a chaotic, violent and broken world, Jesus is still calling us

to come away with him. What will our answer be?

Peace to you and yours,

Pastor Jacquie Leveron COMMUNITY EASTER CELEBRATION &

EGG HUNT—Saturday, March 31 from

10am-12pm. This event is open to the

public. We’ll have games, food, an egg

hunt, and tons of fun! We are in need

of individually wrapped candies that

we can use to fill the Easter eggs.

Please place your

donation in the

box in the

Narthex.

Thank you!

FASTING—During Lent season we invite you (the Church) to fast every Wednesday. Fasting is not just about food but anything that obstructs/blocks our relationship with Christ. Instead use that time to spend it in communion with Christ. May each of us offer Him our steadfast love and faithful service. ST. PATRICK’S DAY DINNER—Join us in the Fellowship Hall Friday, March 16th at 6pm for our annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner! Tickets are $10 each and will be on sale in the Narthex Sunday, March 4th & March 11th. You may also purchase tickets through the church office. We hope you can join us for this traditional Irish meal! CHRISTIAN SISTERS—This is a great month to attend Christian Sisters. We have just made our pledge to support our church and we know just attending Sunday service is not enough. Come join us for Biblical information, discussion, Christian fellowship, and so much more. Why miss out? Get to know your fellow females who worship with you. We will be covering chapters 4, 5, & 6 of the book UNGLUED. Contact the church office if you need a book or just come and we will bring you up to speed. We will meet March 13 at 6pm in Fellowship Hall. You probably won’t do it if you don’t put it on your calendar. Plan ahead. See ya! Ruth Cunningham NOTES FROM THE MUSIC DEPARTMENT—This Sunday, March 4th at 3pm will be our last concert on the series - baritone Louis Otey. Louis is a major stage personality noted for his incisive and provocative interpretations. He has performed in the major opera houses around the world in a career spanning 35 years, five continents, and more than 20 countries. Louis Otey has performed most of opera’s great baritone roles in most of the world’s major theaters--from Covent Garden to Paris, Brussels to Geneva to Rome to Madrid, San Francisco to Chicago to New York’s Met. Join us for an afternoon of some famous operatic arias and musical theatre from shows such as Annie, Annie Get Your Gun, Camelot, Kiss Me Kate, and Les Miserables! Jodie and Brent will be accompanying Louis. Please come out and support our last concert of the season!!! Please know that if you’d like to join the choir, you are always welcome!!! FINANCIAL UPDATE—Greetings Members & Friends of ENUMC! We’re in the full swing of Season and it wonderful to see all of our winter attendees back with us. For the first month of giving for the year, we inched our way into the black with gain of $1,036. A small amount but a great improvement from all the negative months of the past. But, a small gain will not help carry us over the lean months of summer. We really need your help. Commitment Letters - You should have received a Commitment Letter in the mail a couple weeks ago. If not, please pick one from the Narthex and notify the Church office of your address so you will receive future mailings. Commit-ment Letters were collected a few Sundays ago during service. If you have not yet returned your commitment letter, please do so as soon as you can. You can place it in the offering plate this Sunday or you can drop them off at the Church office during the week or mail them to the Church. On February 7th I spoke about the Commitment Letter, and how it far more than a pledge card. It is your way to renew your Baptismal vows about Prayers, Presence, Giving, Service and Witness. All parts of the Commitment Letter are important, but as head of Finances, I have a passion for making our church financially sound. Friends, we are not there yet. In this newsletter is a copy of our Step Chart of Giving Patterns by family units. It does not include any loose change offerings, or any giving by those who do NOT give regularly. It is important that you remember each time you give a little bit more, we are a step closer to being financially sound. In the Step Chart, you will see how many family/giving units give at the specified amount. For example: we have 10 families that give over $150 per week to our church. We also have 95 families that give less than $5 per week. If you attend here regularly, you should be on one of these steps. Please take a moment to find where you are on these steps. Now ask yourself, “Can I step it up for East Naples UMC?” Only you know which step you are at, so this is a personal challenge. Search your hearts and prayerfully consider making that step UP. Now pull out your Commitment Letter, and at the bottom, write in what your Step Amount (or pledge) will be. A step up of just $5 per week is only one less trip to Starbucks. Dine out one less time a month and you can step up for an entire month. Be creative about ways you can save $5 a week. We are not asking you to “Give till it hurts”, but instead “Prayerfully Give till it feels Good”. Paul Clemmensen 239-331-4889
