As we all know Mike Bearce had to step down from the Presidency to help his family and I wish him the best, hopefully things will get better for him. So I will be filling in for the remainder of the term. I know there are some big shoes to fill so please let me know if there is anything I’m missing. A little about me, I have been a member of Cowtown Mopars for almost 7 years now. My family and I own 5 different Mopars currently: a 2005 Ram 1500 (street truck), 2006 Ram 1500 Mega Cab (daily driver), 2010 Dodge Avenger (Angie’s car), 1999 Dodge Dakota (race truck), and last but not least Sarah has a 1967 Dodge Dart. Angie and I have four kids, Sarah who is now 16, Hannah who is 15, Christopher who is 13 and will be 14 in March, and last but not least Madi is 6 and as most of you know the world’s best cookie sales person. As for the upcoming months, the Holidays are just around the corner. That means lots of stuff coming up for our members and their families so please come out and join us. I am super excited to be a part of this club and even more excited about helping more. This year will be the first year I have been able to attend out Toys for Tots show and I’m really hoping we can take Sarah’s car to be a part of it. Looking forward to seeing many of you there. My time is up for now but I promise there will be lots to come so stay tuned.

From The Veep’s Desk

Goodness, this year has flown by. Seems like a lot of stuff happened but I got nothing done. I am going to have to apologize in advance as I am not going to be a lot of help at the toy drive car show. The 29th of October I am going to have my left rotator cuff tended to. Appears I have fully torn 3 of 4 muscles and partially tore the 4th. So now I am off work and heavy stuff for 6 to 8 weeks. Still don’t have the tranny pulled from the Jeep. Oh well, life is rough. I admit I haven’t been keeping up with the car world as I had hoped. Glad Mark and the race team managed to get the points lead back in the TMCCC. Kudos to the show team for all they have done. A big thanks to Bill Boon for the great chili cook off meet. Guys at work thank all the chili chefs, LOL. Not crazy about the AutoNation rumors regarding AS. Well, as I am on a couple decent meds that are befuddling me. Am going to close and say see you in the near future.

It was a beautiful day for a race at Kennedale on Oct. 4th with 26 of 166 racers running with the 13 time TMCCC Champions. We had 5 of those take home awards. The overall club points margin is still close but Cowtown Mopars is now at least 17 points ahead of everyone else. One more race to go and that's November 1st at the Motorplex. Congrats to: Susan Brownell ----------- stock semifinalist Mike McDonald ----------- street runner up Grady Hentz --------------- king winner Rich Lemmon ------------- king runner up Jason Pipkin -------------- pro semifinalist Robert Vaughan has asked that anyone who plans to go to the TMCCC banquet this year please mail your check to him. This will make it a lot easier on him at the last race. Thanks for your cooperation. Robert Vaughan 408 Lanwood Wylie, Tx 75098

One last thing. I'm selling my ‘64 Dodge that I race. If you know anyone looking for a great race car send them to me. Stay tuned

Off The Wing by Barry Hansen

Oct Chili Cook-Off and club meeting was a big success. Texas Trailer Man's shop packed with hungry people. I personally had a heaping helping of every chili there, not a bad one in the bunch. Chili is one of my main food groups along with BBQ and Tex-Mex. Seasonal though, can't eat chili when it’s 100 degrees outside. Finally cool enough that we can have a pot of chili every couple of weeks or so at the Hansen Happy Hacienda and Hostelry. Blaspheme, blaspheme...AutoNation Ford is using the Warner Bros Plymouth Road Runner cartoon character in their commercials. Again I say blaspheme. Mopar spotting... Jay Leno's Garage, Wednesdays, 9 pm on cable channel CNBC and repeated several times later each week. First episode (of 8 this first season) was almost a Mopar ad or at least a Mopar love fest. Jay is introducing the show and waxing nostalgic about muscle cars while cruising LA in his 1970 red Hemi Challenger. He then picks up Tim (the Toolman) Taylor and they have a burnout contest in matching Hellcat Challengers. The police come and bust them in a LAPD Dodge Charger black and white unit. Some Mustangs are finally seen later on in the show. Mopar spotting, whoops...two page magazine ad for Barret-Jackson auction. Description for Lot #1004, “1970 Plymouth 'Cuda Custom Convertible”. It goes on, “A real-deal 'Cuda convertible, upgraded to 426 Hemi”, blah, blah, blah. Problem is the picture is a lime green 1970 Dodge Challenger coupe. Seven other pictures of Fords and Chevys had correct pictures and descriptions, just not the lone Mopar. Embarrassed Mopar Spotting... shown on the Weather Channel during the flooding in South Carolina. A white Ram stops at a barricaded road with high and fast flood waters. Drives around the barricade into the water and gets swept away. About a hundred yards downstream the front end sinks. Firemen and a helicopter rescue the driver through the window just before the truck completely submerges and continues downstream. Responders should have just let this one go. Would have done the gene pool a favor. Wasted a good Ram though. NHRA...Keystone Nats, Maple Grove, PA, Tony Schumacher T/F runner-up, Fast Jack Beck-man, Charger, F/C winner, Pro Stock a bust. Fall Nats, Ennis, TX, Jack Beckman, Charger F/C runner-up this time, Pro Stock bust again. Two races to go, let this NHRA year be over quickly. Again I ask, has NHRA rule-changed the Darts out of competition as they admitted doing to the 70’s Duster and Dart Sport Pro Stocks? Nissan Titan V8 wins Texas Truck Rodeo “Truck of the Year” after the Ram 150 won it two previous years (only truck to do so). But wait, there's a catch. Turns out the Nissan was a prototype, a pre-production model with options and modifications that in the words of the Nis-san support staff “may or may not make it into production”. What the hell is that? The Ram won twice with an off the showroom anybody can buy it truck. Heaven help the competition if Dodge sends a prototype or pre-production of say a 2020 Power Wagon or prototype of the new Jeep pick-up. MOPAR, you have to smoke 'em if you got 'em.

We love our sponsors...

...you will too
