UPCOMING EVENTS & ANNOUNCEMENTS Voices of Praise – Rehearsals Resume Today For the month of January we will be holding our choir rehearsals in the Student Center Garage. Please be in your seats and ready to go at 4:00PM so we can get started right away! Looking forward to seeing and hearing you! Grief Share – Begins Jan 13 th at 6:30PM This 13-week support group will meet each Tuesday in the classroom just inside the main entrance doors and will be facilitated by Michele Ball. DivorceCare – Begins Jan 15 th at 6:30PM This is a 13-week support group that will meet each Thursday and will be facilitated by Brenda Kraft. Club 23 Game Night – Jan 17 th @ 6:30PM Bring an appetizer to share and your favorite game to Steve and Malisa Deweese’s home. Babysitting will be available at the home of Pastor Jonathan and Carrie. Please RSVP to Pastor Jonathan if you have babysitting needs. This is for people in their 20’s and 30’s. Pizza with the Pastors - Jan 18 th @ 12:15PM If you are new to TVCOG or have never attended a newcomer’s lunch, please take this opportunity to get to know us better and allow us to get to know you and your family. We will meet immediately following the second service in the Student Center. New Cross Lanes Small Group Jan 18 th @ 6:00PM Judy Combs will be leading a study on the Beatitudes beginning January 18 th at 6:00pm at the home of Karen Figgatt. Monthly Manly Meals – Jan 20 th @ noon Our men are meeting the 3 rd Tuesday of the month at noon on January 20 th at Quaker Steak at Southridge. All men are welcome. Young At Heart Monthly Luncheon – Jan 21 st @ Noon Those 55 and over, are invited to join us for lunch in the church basement. Guest speaker: Rev. Basil Hudson, Teresa Gillmor’s father. Please bring a dish share. Scrappy Crafter Night Jan 30 th @ 6:00PM Bring any craft you choose, a snack and a 2-liter to share and enjoy fellowship and laughter. This is a great opportunity to bring a friend! Please mark your blue card. Super Bowl Sunday – February 1 st In honor of Super Bowl Sunday and just because it is plain fun, wear your favorite team jersey on Sunday, February 1 st . We’ll talk about the IMPACT of a Winning Team. Scott Haas’ Sunday School Class will be studying the last book of the Old Testament, Malachi beginning January 24 th , and then move right into the first book of the New Testament, Matthew. Tim Hawkins LIVE – Concert October 1, 2015 We have 3 tickets left at the reduced group rate of $20 each. If you are interested please mark your blue card and place your payment in offering. If you have reserved a ticket but have not yet paid, please do so as soon as possible. Your tickets are being held in the church office. Contact Brenda to arrange for pick up. Experience Mark Gungor's hilarious, practical, and straight-forward advice about relationships through videos and this twelve-week study. Laugh and learn as you explore the underlying dynamics of male/female relationships. Mark your blue card if you are interested in attending this study on Sunday evenings at 6:00PM. There is a cost of $15 for the couple’s workbook and the class will be held in the green room. CWC Missions Day 2015 – Jan 31st @ 10AM-2PM The Christian Woman’s Connection is hosting the annual Missions Day at 5 th Avenue Church of God, 200 5 th Ave. in South Charleston. The speaker is Patrick Nachtigal, and lunch is provided. This is a free event, but there will be 2 love offerings; 1 for our missionary and the other for our state project (scholarships for our 6 COG college students). This event is NOT just for women! Come help support our Church of God missionaries. Girl’s Night Out with PJ & Carrie – Jan 23rd & 24th @ 7pm All female students grades 6-12 and all female youth staff are invited to Pastor Jonathan and Carrie’s home for a night of movies and girlie fun. Please bring $10 and stuff to do hair, paint nails and other girlie things to do. You will be going to Orange Leaf and then back to their house to stay the night. Parents please pick up your child(ren) by 11am on Saturday. Soup & Sandwich Fund Raiser – Jan 25th @ 10:30AM & 12:00PM Before and after the second service, students fundraising to attend the Leadership Summit in Florida will be providing a soup and salad lunch “to go”. The suggested cost for the lunch is $8 and donations are welcome. Only those students who have received requests to attend need to participate. Spring Fling Youth Conference – Mar 13th and 14th All students grades 6-12 will leave the church at 5PM Friday (please eat before arriving) and return home Saturday by 5PM. This is the Annual Church of God State Youth Conference two-day event. The speaker is Leslie Lamb (Host of a youth webcast called “Youth Church Ministry Live”) and the band is “Render the Hearts”. Early bird sign-up before Jan 15th = $40. Sign-up Between Jan 16-Feb 15= $45. Sign-up after Feb 16th and cost is $50. In addition, students will need to bring$5-$10 for lunch stop in Charleston on the return trip. Please sign up at the Welcome Desk. Annual Youth Peanut Butter Easter Egg Making Fundraiser – Mar 6th-7th All youth are encouraged to sign up for a time. Each student who works during the egg making receives an hourly wage that is deposited into their account. Students who sell eggs receive a portion of each egg sold. Sign ups will be available beginning Sunday, March 1st at the Welcome Desk. Please pick up your 2015 Youth Calendar now at the Welcome Desk.
