Louisville QB Lamar Jackson became the fastest player in league history to gain 10,000 yards of total off ense, accomplishing the feat in just 31 games. He is only the second junior to top the 10,000-yard mark, joining Clemson’s Deshaun Watson who did so in 33 games. Jackson’s career total stands at 10,414 enter-ing Saturday’s game vs. Boston College.

NC State RB/KR Nyheim Hines and Pi S/RB Jordan Whitehead were honored by the Hornung Award for their versa lity this week. Hines totaled 225 all-purpose yards in the Wolfpack’s win over Louisville and Whitehead played both off ense and defense for the Panthers in their loss to Syracuse, rushing for 73 yards on seven carries and making nine tackles.

Eight ACC football players have been named semifi nalists for the Na onal Football Founda on’s Campbell Trophy, which is given annually to the na on’s top football scholar-ath-lete. The semifi nalists are OT Gabe Brandner

Twelve ACC football players have been nominated for the 2017 Allstate AFCA Good Works team. The list is led by Heisman Trophy win-ning QB Lamar Jackson of Louisville and includes DT Chris an Wilkins of Clemson, T Gabe Brandner of Duke, TE Mavin Saunders of Florida State,

With UNC’s Mitch Trubisky slated to start Monday night for Chi-cago, a total of 11 quarterbacks from ACC schools will have started an NFL game this season. Four of those signal callers are from NC State, including Philip Rivers (Chargers), Russell Wilson (Seahawks), Jacoby Brisse (Colts) and Mike Glennon (Bears). They are joined by Clemson’s Deshaun Watson (Texans), Boston College’s Ma Ryan (Falcons), Pi ’s Tom Savage (Texans), Virginia Tech’s Tyrod Taylor (Bills) and Florida State’s Jameis Winston (Buccaneers) and E.J. Manuel (Raiders). All 11 played in the ACC.

Seven ACC quarterbacks have made their fi rst career starts this sea-son. Boston College’s Anthony Brown, Clemson’s Kelly Bryant, Virginia Tech’s Josh Jackson and Georgia Tech’s TaQuon Marshall all made their fi rst starts in week one. North Carolina’s Chazz Surra made his fi rst ca-reer start in week two vs. Louisville. Florida State true freshman James Blackman and Pi sophomore Ben DiNucci made their fi rst starts on Sept. 23. In addi on, Miami’s Malik Rosier made just the second start of his career in the Hurricanes’ season-opener against Bethune-Cookman.

COASTAL NOTES Miami WR Braxton Berrios is the fi rst Hurricane since Reggie Wayne

in 2000 to catch a touchdown pass in each of the fi rst four games of the season. Da ng back to a 2016 Russell Athle c Bowl victory, Berrios has caught a touchdown pass in fi ve straight games - the longest such streak for a Miami pass-catcher since Leonard Hankerson caught a TD in fi ve straight in 2010.

Georgia Tech ranks among the top fi ve na onally in six categories. The Jackets lead the na on in me of possession (36:39) and fi rst downs allowed (54), are second in rushing off ense (396.0 avg.) and fi h in team pass effi ciency (176.98). Tech is also fourth in third-down conversions percentage (.533) and third-down conversion percentage defense (.239).

Georgia Tech topped the 400-yard rushing mark in back-to-back games against Pi on Sept. 23 (436) and North Carolina (403) on Sept. 30. No team has rushed for more that 400 yards against consecu ve ACC opponents since at least 2000.

Since 2008, no team in the FBS has rushed for more yards than Georgia Tech. Using its spread-op on a ack, the Jackets have run for 37,055 yards during that me, or 21.0359 miles. Tech is second in the na on in rushing off ense, averaging 396 yards per game.

Virginia Tech WR Cam Phillips ranks second na onally among all ac- ve receivers with 207 career catches. That total es him for 13th place

on the ACC career list with FSU’s Peter Warrick and Duke’s Donovan Varner.

Virginia Tech PK Joey Slye moved into sixth place on the ACC career scoring list with 376 points. Slye tallied 11 points in the Hokies’ win over Boston College, including three fi eld goals. He now has 74 career fi eld goals, which is the fourth-highest total in league history. Slye ranks second na onally among all ac ve career players in fi eld goals.

Virginia safety Quin Blanding leads all ac ve FBS players in career total tackles with 417. Blanding, currently in his fourth year as a starter, averages 9.98 tackles per game. He recorded his fi rst career intercep on

• Louisville QB Lamar Jackson leads the country in points responsible for (126) and is second na onally in total off ense. Jackson is averaging 416.7 yards per game, which is ahead of the ACC-record of 393.4 yards per game, set by Jackson last year. Syracuse ju-nior QB Eric Dungey is currently fi h in total off ense, averaging 354.5 yards per game.

• NC State senior DE Bradley Chubb is second in the na on in tackles for loss , averaging 2.3 per game. He is also fourth in quarterback sacks, averaging 1.08 per game.

for a TD in UVA’s iwn over Duke, returning a Blue Devil pass 58 yards for a score to give the Cavaliers a 7-0 lead.

Duke senior cornerback Bryon Fields Jr. recorded his fourth career intercep on return for a touchdown when he returned a pick 61 yards for Duke’s fi nal score in a 27-17 win over arch-rival North Carolina. Fields Jr. ed the ACC career mark for intercep on returns for touch-downs set by Virginia’s Randy Neal (1991-94) and matched by Wake Forest’s Alphonso Smith (2005-08).

Pi wide receiver Quadree Henderson recorded his sixth kick return for a touchdown when he returned a punt 80 yards for a score against Georgia Tech. Henderson has returned four kickoff s and two punts for scores. The ACC and NCAA record is eight, held by Clemson’s C.J. Spiller and several others at the na onal level.

ATLANTIC NOTES NC State is ranked in the AP Top 20 for the fi rst me in 14 years.

The Wolfpack, which is ranked 20th this week, is in the top 20 for the fi rst me since the second week of the 2003 season when they were ranked 14th on September 1, 2003.

Clemson ranks eighth na onally in total defense, allowing just 264.3 yards per game. The Tigers are fi h in scoring defense, 13th in run defense and 15th in pass defense.

Clemson is the fi h team in ACC history to play three teams ranked in the AP’s Top 14 in the fi rst fi ve games of a season. The others were Miami in 2009, North Carolina in 2001, Clemson in 1966 and Duke in 1957. Clemson faced No. 13 Auburn in week two, No. 14 Louisville in week three and No. 12 Virginia Tech in week fi ve. Clemson is the only team to win all three.

NC State quarter-back Ryan Finley has thrown 288 consecu ve passes without an in-tercep on, which is the second-longest streak in ACC history. He trails only former NC State QB Russell Wilson, who set the ACC mark of 379 passes without a pick during the 2008-09 seasons.

Boston College junior free safety Lucas Denis is ed for the na onal lead in inter-cep ons with fi ve in the Eagles’ six games.

Florida State PK Ricky Aguayo is averag-ing 2.5 fi eld goals per game and ranks third na onally.

Syracuse wide receiver Ervin Philips set an ACC record with 17 catches in the Orange’s loss to NC State. Philips broke a mark held by nine diff erent players who had 16 catches 10 diff erent mes.

Syracuse WR Steve Ishmael fell just three yards shy of extending his streak of 100-yard receiving games to six. Ishmael’s streak of fi ve straight 100-yard games ed for the second longest in ACC history.

Louisville QB Lamar Jackson, who has 3,041 rushing yards in his career is 20th on the FBS career list, just behind Braxton Miller of Ohio State (3,054) and Vince Young of Texas (3,127) on the NCAA career list of rushing yards by a quarterback.

Jackson ranks second among all ac ve players, averaging 335.9 total yards of off ense per game. His current average would break the ACC career mark set last year by Deshaun Watson of Clemson (318.3) by 17 yards per game. Jackson is one of four ACC quarterbacks ranked in the Top 17 of ac ve career total off ense per game. His is joined by Eric Dungey of Syracuse (293.4) who is 8th and Florida State’s Deondre Francois (265.8) who is 14th and Duke Daniel Jones (262.4), who is 17th.

Clemson has won 10 or more games in each of the last six years. The Tigers and Alabama are the only two teams that currently have ac- ve streaks of six or more years with double-fi gure victories. The Tigers

are only the 11th team to have had 10 wins in six successive seasons.

ACC COACHING SUCCESS Six ACC coaches – the most of any conference – rank in the top

18 of all ac ve coaches in career winning percentage with a minimum of fi ve years as a head coach. Win Streaks:• Clemson’s win over Wake Forest was its 11th straight since losing to Pi last year. That is the longest current win streak in the FBS.

Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson ranks fourth among all ac ve head coaches in career victories, having recorded 180 wins in his 20-year career. Miami’s Mark Richt is eighth with 158 wins, followed by Louisville’s Bobby Petrino, who is 16th with 113 wins, Dave Clawson of Wake Forest (107) who is 21st, Virginia’s Bronco Mendenhall, who is 22nd with 105 wins, and Duke’s David Cutcliff e, who is 23rd with 100 wins.

NATIONAL TITLES & HEISMAN TROPHY WINNERS Two of the last four na onal champions have come from the ACC (Clemson in 2016, Florida

State in 2013), the only conference with mul ple winners over that stretch. The ACC has had a team in the championship game in three of the four years.

The ACC is the fi rst conference since 1994 to have a football na onal tle winner (Clemson) and a Heisman Trophy winner (Lamar Jackson, Louisville) from two diff erent schools in the same season.

In 2016, Louisville’s Lamar Jackson became the second ACC player in the last four years to claim the Heisman Trophy. With Clemson’s Deshaun Watson at No. 2 in the Heisman vo ng, it marked the seventh me in the 82-year history of the award that the top two fi nishers have been from the same conference, and only the second me that the top two fi nishers have been quar-terbacks from the same conference.

With junior QB Lamar Jackson returning to lead Louisville in 2017, the ACC has had reign-ing Heisman Trophy-winner return to compete in the league twice in the last four years. Florida State’s Jameis Winston did so in 2014 a er winning the 2013 Heisman Trophy. Jackson is the youngest athlete (19 years, 337 days) to win the Heisman Trophy, while Winston (19 years, 342 days) is the second youngest.

DR PEPPER ACC FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME This season, The Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game will be held at Charlo e’s

Bank of America Stadium for a seventh me, resuming an agreement between the ACC and the Queen City venue that runs through the 2020 season.

The 13th annual Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game is set for Saturday, Dec. 2. The game will again be shown in prime me on ESPN (at 7:45 p.m.) or ABC (at 8 p.m.)

The six Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Games held in Charlo e have been extremely successful from a fan experience and a endance standpoint. The games have averaged over 69,000 fans per contest, including sellout crowds in 2010, 2011, and 2015. An ACC Football Championship record crowd of 74,514 in 2015 set an a endance record at Bank of America Sta-dium. Over the last seven years, the ACC ranks second among all conferences in a endance at its football championship games.

Since 2011, the ACC Championship has been the most compe ve of the four major confer-ence championship games, as it has been decided by more than fi ve fewer points per game than any other championship.
